I remember being a teenager asking mum for a CD of "Simply red"
I got "Simple minds"0 -
Being a bit naughty I came across a bag in the cupboard and peeked. Bad bad girl. Hubby has bought a travel rabbit. Innocuous enough sounding but (a) its in an Ann Summers bag and (b) it plugs into a car cigarette lighter. Suppose it'll come in handy should I ever get stuck in a stationary traffic jam (alone and in the dark) and even then.....!0

Loving this thread, having a good chuckle at some of the gifts.
My most pointless gift came from my brother a few years ago, it was a Jesus action figure (with gliding motion).
Four years later and I still have no clue what he intended I do with it. It was very strange considering that most importantly I'm not actually christian, don't collect action figures and was in my 20s.
Still it gave everyone that saw it a laugh and a good time trying to think up uses. Hope it cheered you up about some of your silly gifts too.
Happy holidays :snow_laug0 -
I think I can top the lot now. DD (she's 7) bought some "gifts" from the school fete thingy, to give to family and friends at christmas. Guess what I got, being a 27 year old female with size 5 feet?????
A brown comb and a pair of mens brown socks so large i could wear them as stockings! :rotfl: I tried to hide my confusion when I unwrapped them, looked down and found her little face to be more confused than mine. "Dunno why I bought you that mum?" No dear, nor do I. :rotfl: :rotfl: I'm still chuckling 4 days later. My mind not only wanders .......... sometimes it leaves completely0 -
My dd's have just opened their presents from MIL. DD1 who is 3 got a toothbrush set which is really nice apart from it is suitable for 5-7 year old and she also got some lipglosses, I think she is too young for make up. DD2 who is not quite 2 got a doll with hair that is suitable from 3 and a tuft of hair came away from it. aaaraaahh I am gonna tell her not to bother0

Reading all this, I am glad we don't 'do' presents! DH and I have each other and that's wonderful enough.
I sent Christmas flowers to all the women of the family - my daughter, stepd-in-law, stepd and DH's stepd, also my late daughter's best friend who was my matron-of-honour. That's it. Presents done. We've just had phone calls saying how lovely the flowers are and their neigbours have said how unusual to have flowers at Christmas. DH's son and d-in-law have every mortal thing and we couldn't possibly compete.
I gave my 2 GDs a cheque each and another one for their birthdays. That pleased them no end. I'd do the same for my GS only he never keeps in touch and I don't even have his address.
