My mother in law bought my husband one of thoe memory foam pillows. He is very ill so is in bed a lot, he got it 2 weeks early so he coujld use it.

Then she bought one for me for Christmas. So she said on Christmas Eve that she had bought another pillow, but this one was better than the one she gave Jeff. So if I gave him this new one, I could have the one he has used for 2 weeks as my present.

Also, when I took off the paper on a small box...it was empty. whenasked about it..she said she had been looking for that box. She has 3 daughter-in-law so bought 3 boxed pairs of gloves!! After wrapping all her presents she found a 'spare' pair of gloves..no box. But...she liked them so was using them..she thought she must have bought an extra pair by mistake!!!:rotfl:
    Good Luck All

My 16 year old son was not impressed by a china mug decorated with christmas robins. It came in a matching tin gift box so it was probably quite expensive - very strange!

Years ago my young daughter loved the album, thriller, so when my sister asked what to give I suggested the Michael Jackson cassette ..... showing at how long ago this is!!

    ....... she got ....

'Off the wall', made oooohhhhh, when he was about 12!!! I had to go out and buy the 'real' one!!

Nooo, mah_jong! She didn't do such a bad thing! Off the Wall was made when he was 21 and Thriller was his next album, three years later. And Off the Wall was really quite good. It was only after Thriller things started to go downhill. :D :rotfl: :rotfl:

    Sorry, couldn't help myself!! :o
  • My MIL bought me a red lacy g string - I'm still in shock!:D

My MOTHER bought me a 'thingy' that you can make your own squirty cream and a box of spare gas bombs to go with it. That was it! I just dont get it, its not like I have cream on everything, in fact prob only buy one tin of the stuff per year. WEIRD that after 43 years she still hasnt got a clue about me.
Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!
  • mumoftwo - admire me some more!

Managed to get something smelly from the body shop - but not aromatherapy oils, but house fragrances, and then ones I got really smell awful.

To top that I have also got 2 pairs of chocolate (coloured) fish net tights from M&S, with price still on and size small/medium. That would have been fine but
    • I have never and will never wear fish nets unless for fancy dress
    • they would need to be black for fancy dress
    • I have recently been diagnosed with an underactive thyroid and gone up 2 dress sizes, making these too small - as my MIL well knows
Still, I can still ruin her beloved youngests wedding next year by wearing them and a short skirt to the wedding (in Feb - my legs will be blue and beautiful) - I will be moneysaving by not waxing my legs to save the money for the skirt...
