My DS is 4, oddly enough is called 'Ethan'. MIL has always had an issue with his name being 'too modern'- despite it appearing in the bible
Anyway to prove her point she calls him Nathan instead
as thats a proper name. It confuses the hell out of him!
I've got an 'Ethan' whom my Nan insists on calling Ewan..An Aunt calls him Even and his present from my Dad had Efam written on it! (Mind you he insists on spelling my girls 'Harriotte' & 'Hanna' - instead of Harriet & Hannah)
15 crafts for 2015 challenge.

dd's got woolen hats from bil and his partner
hats don't fit
worse than that 4 yrs ago they gave em hats and they dint fit either
I told them and they just said that they couldn't change them or get the money back so we were stuck with 2 useless hats seems this year it's the same.I want to tell them not to bother but his mother got nasty with me when I said that to her
he's the blue eyed boy see......say no more!xXx-Sukysue-xXx0 -
My youngest was over the moon. She got face paints from an elderly aunt. She had a fabulous time x-mas day painting anyone who stayed still long enough. Downside was discovered at bed time when the stuff failed to come off. Have scrubbed at it, tried make up remover and more scrubbing none of which was successful. Daddy went to work this morning with a black eye (previously a pirate eye patch) and bright red cheeks, think Aunt Sally from Wurzel Gummidge (if you're old enough).
I bumped into one of the neighbours who thought I'd flambed the x-mas pud and got third degree burns to my mouth and nose. Had to disappoint them telling them I was a 4 year olds attempt at a clown. Eldest daughter came off the worst. Yesterday she was a butterfly. Today she has 2 black eyes, a bright red nose and mouth and a green forehead.
Thank you for giving me such a laugh with this! I was even laughing in bed that night thinking about it! Hope it has all come off now?

On the subject of names and spelling them wrong....try having my name 'keely' i get called everything but keely! And one of my nans always spells it wrong! keeley....i keep telling people theres no E before the y but they ignore me! Kelly, Kalyeigh, Kerry....etc.....
Now i opened an odd present this year, off my MIL which was to me and my hubby. About 2/3 months ago we started trying to loose weight....
so stocking filler was.... two packs of weight watchers sweets! lol.... I just had to laugh!
Im lucky i usually get presents i like, or need. A lot of the presents mentionned i would like- ie hot water bottle, socks, buble bath, choccy fountain! Im probably wierd but i love new socks/undies so dont care how many i get as long as they fit and arent granny pants in pastel colours!

DH family do not bother with us or our dd's which upsets us. I think we have seen his mother four times this year and that is a flying visit. I always try and encourage her and make her feel welcome to no avail, but I guess it is her choice. This is why I dread what she buys us for xmas, it would be easier if she didn't bother because she has put no love in to it!
I know how you feel. My husband died 13 years ago when my children were babies and my children have grown up having never met their grandparents or relatives from that side. Only contact is a card and money for birthdays and Christmas from their great grandmother. She died last year and her daughter (My kids' great aunt) took over but that is all we get. No letters or anything else.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Don't ever stop believing........
Never get tired of watching you, someday you will break through.....0 -
My great grandmother has always been a bit mean er I mean moneysaving and has always given bizarre presents as a result. For years my Nan and her sisters received packets of 'ginger tan' tights from a job lot that my great grandfather brought home from abroad for her during WW2. The brothers got equally bad presents with one of them enduring years of spearpoint shirts with ruffles. One year she really surpassed herself though and bought my Nan and her sisters slippers, the trouble was that when my Nan opened hers she found one slipper a size 4 and one a size 5. Thinking she had got one of my aunt's (who took a 5) she rang her up and asked her if she had the correct size slippers - imagine the hilarity when my aunt replied that in fact she had two slippers of the correct size, the only problem being that they were both for the left foot! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0

I had to stop reading this thread at page 3 - I haven't laughed so much in years!! Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who has posted, you have all made my day. I am so glad I decided to browse this board today - I will be back tomorrow to read some more.....some of your stories are unbelievable, I have had unsuitable presents in the past but nothing to equal some of yours, thanks for sharing :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0
