I didnt get much this year but what I did get I loved - especially my new super pink steamy irony thing! you know, one of those posh steam doo dahs, fabulous.
My worst one is secret santa - work in a small office so we all know each other really well - this year I got an executive table tennis set and last year it was a pink cowboy hat! Both gifts instantly re-wrapped up and re-cycled for the lil uns in my life
Comps £2016 in 2016 - 1 wins = £530 26.2%
SEALED POT CHALLENGE MEMBER No. 428 2015 - £210.930 -
I just remembered that a few years ago my OH got me a 'Meet the Meercats' as they are so cute I love them. It cost £90 but when I had got there, the fortnight before there had been an illness and all but 2 of the meercats had died, one was petrified of people and the other was a favourite of the woman in with me so all it wanted was her. So I sat there like a lemon while they ignored me or sniffed my shoes - I did get a t-shirt though, that was too small. Not hubbies fault but I was sorely disappointed, they could have least called me to re-schedule.0

This thread has really made me laugh.
My ex husband one year gave me nothing! not even a card, claiming he was far too busy to shop. He managed to give his mother a gold bracelet and a trip to visit a relative in America.
( I suggested that he accompanied her and promptly divorced him.)
Best present ever.0 -
My DH and I have the world's most sensitive skin...for the 2nd year in a row my H received an Old Spice gift set which he cannot use (from his Mum) and I received a perfume gift set, which I cannot use...from his Mum...
What actually upsets me is that she spends so much money on these things, and we simply can't use them. I do use perfume, but I spray it on my clothes, I can't use any of the highly perfumed body lotion etc that she buys me every year.0 -

Happiness is a perfume you cannot pour on others without getting a few drops on yourself.

The beauty of the teramundi pots - (and I love them and have one that I got when OH gave up smoking so he could put his ciggarette money in and then have a surpirse treat a year later) is that you can use it, after all 20 and 18 would be perfect ages to be saving for something - is that you don't have to keep them for eve as to get the money out you have to smash them!!
But both my daughters have bank accounts and do their saving online. My eldest has a special savings account too and is very good with money. She never ever has any change on her (which is probably why she's got plenty in the bank!). My youngest is terrible with money and never has any money on her because as soon as she withdraws it she spends it! So these pots are just no good for them. I do appreciate the thought and the money spent though (SIL left the price on them!).0 -
My worst this year would be from my sister yet again a rather cheap makeupbrush set, that looks like the bristles are falling out already (has not even been taken out of the box) She has bought me make up brushes on 2 previous occasions, last year she got me a cheap makeup set, with bright pinks and reds that wouldnt look out of place on barbie!
One year ( yet again from sis) I got a v.v cheap perfume set, the ones with lavender oil and old dog smell, that was buy 1 get 1 free, I got one, my sil got one, my other half and bruv got the mens version. Cost would of been £3 then she had the cheek to say I had spent more on someone else than her!! My sil did give a oscar winning gushing thankyou though :rotfl:
Another a bird feeder with a pack of nuts when I was about 13!!!!!0 -
This thread is so funny!
Im really lucky with my family and friends and get wonderful , thoughtful gifts.
I loved everything!
It does get me thinking about how bad "Secret Santa" gifts are though.
Last year I got a really badly wrapped pair of earrings, which were awful. The year before was even worse- the person who was supposed to buy for me got confused and bought for another person so I got nothing and the other person got two things.... the confused person was so embarrased so another colleague( who was an Avon rep) gave her some Avon freebies to give to me.. I now decline any offers to join in the secret santa!0 -
