How do you apply for the 5% cash back offer that people are talking about.

Thanks - seen that already but there’s no option for me to register for it.
Tried messaging via the app, they gave me instructions but when I follow them, all I get is a message saying I need to be registered for Blue Rewards which I already am!
Everything to do with this whole seems to be way more complicated than it should be due to poor IT and poor support staff.

I just had a call at 7pm from a foreign-sounding guy claiming to be from Barclays fraud department.
OK, a word of warning.  It turns out that my new account was blocked because I paid £800 into it and then almost immediately attempted to transfer the £800 back out again, which their fraud detection system considered suspicious.  They were very helpful when I finally got through and have now unblocked the account.

Plenty of posts (in this thread) about how you should go about deposits and withdrawals on a new account. Larger amounts in/out are treated as money laundering by some banks and raise concern.
I always deposit a small amount, just £20 then a couple of days take £10 out. That sets up my new payee at both ends. After around 7 days I bang in the required amount to satisfy the terms (if it's not date sensitive when you do this) it wasn't for me. I then take the money out again (if needing  to) after 24/48hrs. I think it was mentioned a out 4 days being safe at Barclays to withdraw on a new account on larger amounts.
They are protecting your money so it's a safety net for you.

Has anyone here done the offer by switching to the Premier account and got the £175? If so, did you sign up to Barclays Blue? My reading of the offer was that you don't need to sign up to this if you open the Premier account.

Leading on from my concern regarding the the £5 fee was not taken December. I joined on the 26 November I signed up to Barclays and agreed switch date 5 December. The switch went though fine and no issues there. However like some other contributors in error they closed down the Blue Rewards account in error. They apologised and was due to technical errors and was now resolved.

I had an online chat with them today about when the fee would be taken. However to my surprisedthey advised it was not taken due to technical error and hopefully would be taken next month.  I did ask will this affect my bonus and they advised if not paid in 28 days to phone back.

I know the 2 dd's are set up but have little faith these will paid bearing in mind their technical issues.

My switch completed 13th and the first DD went out correctly today, the payment of the £10 cashback last month was fine and hopefully the other DD will go on Monday and get my £5 back, then I can get the £10 this month and sack off Blue Rewards

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Lucky you. I am still waiting for my cashback. I’ll be the same due to the incompetence of the bank through various issues and error messages. I’ve never experienced such issues with other banks before.
  • I've just signed up to Blue Rewards today, even though my switch has already gone through.

Am I going to get the switch offer does anyone think? I missed that both the switch and the blues reward had to be done before 30th....
