They previously had one back in 2019.
Was that not payable over a period of a year, and dependent on having two direct debits successfully paid from the relevant current account each month for 12 months, as opposed to an up front lump sum? In other words you'd have needed to keep the new Barclays account for at least a year to receive the incentive in full.

The colleague I saw when I had to visit the branch to verify my ID said she'd been with them years, and to her knowledge they hadn't offered cash up front before.

Barclays did a double Blue Rewards for 12 months for 12 months after switching incentive. I seem to remember the basic reward was £7 a month so £84 in total - more if you had a mortgage/insurance etc. with them.
Not  the most generous of incentives but existing customers weren't excluded and they ran the offer at least 3 times allowing you to get the incentive once with each individual promotion.

Definitely just a simple switch offer back in 2019 as I recall. The main issue then, iirc, was an insistence that you visit a branch (having made an appointment) to do the switch - so it was a bit of a pain at the time.

In branch staff never seem to quite know what the bank is doing, now or in the past!

How often do Barclays run an award like this?  Sorry if it's been answered before but 119 pages is beyond my limit to check.
My understanding is this is the first time Barclays has ever offered a straight cash incentive to switch current accounts
They previously had one back in 2019.
Yes, I got the bonus for that and also this one.

What odds I'll lose access to my Barlcaycard via the app if I switch away from Barclays? Or maybe I'm being pessimistic and it will all work normally!
Keep us updated coz I am in the same boat once I switch as well

@Middle_of_the_Road - I'm just wondering whether there's others like us who are still waiting since 24th/27th Nov to be paid.  Yes, filing a complaint is one option, but the amount of problems and stress a lot of people on here, including myself have had, has not been worth the it and I dread to think how their complaints would be.  If we don't get paid by Mid-Jan, we'll be withdrawing the money and closing the accounts as we're not willing to pay the £5 fee per month for the blue rewards.

@Seldrima - Yes and the DDs have pulled through successfully for both accounts.

@masonic - Yes you're right about the switching with wrong person's name, although they still switched the account out successfully and collected the DD's fine.  We joined the Blue Rewards and we used the app to apply for both accounts.

My switch completed 20th Nov. I still haven't been paid so I contacted them. They said they won't give me the £175 because I cancelled blue rewards. I've met all the T&C's. I even asked them before if I'd still get the £175 if I did this and they said yes as long as it was after the £5 fee was taken and I met the other criteria (which I do).

I've now made a complaint, but I'm worried they still won't give me the £175 I'm entitled to. I don't want to have to go to the Ombudsman for it, as it's time consuming and I doubt they'd side with me based on my previous experience. But I'll try if I have to.

If I'd known this switch would be this stressful I'd never have gone through with it.
They just called me and said they would give me the £175. I asked if I could get an extra £25 for the inconvenience like someone else in this thread got, they asked why, I said cause others got it and for the inconvenience. She put me on hold and claimed I agreed that I didn't qualify for the T&C's on the phone, I told them that's incorrect. I said they could listen to the phone call if they've got it recorded cause I never agreed to that. She said she would check the phone call recording and call me back later today. She also kept quoting T&C's which don't exist and I never agreed to.

Really awful bank, was hoping it'd be sorted but nope! Probably going to have to go to the Financial Ombudsman :/  If they refuse the extra £25 I think I will just take the £175, if they still let me, as I doubt the Financial Ombudsman would side with me over it, even though I'm not being treated fairly.

Ok so they called back, apparently they couldn't get access to the recording (how strange). They refused to give an extra £25 like others got, but said they would give £175 which I've accepted. Glad it's mostly sorted but still kinda annoyed... and really stressed, really awful experience. Safe to say I'll never use them again as a Bank.

Have you actually received it though? I complained about not getting my £10 cashback for December, after 45 minutes of them humming and hawing and coming up with excuse after excuse (they had no idea of the offer!) they agreed to pay me my £10. I'm still waiting for it a week later and am anticipating another complaint going in. I wasn't offered £25.

Yeah well I have now, showed up in my account half an hour ago. I'd suggest chasing them up on it, I wish you luck!

You bet I'll be chasing them up on it. A follow up complaint will be going in next week. I have never experienced such incompetence with a bank before.

If anyone is going for First Direct as the next switch out of Barclays, TopCashback also give £36.75 in cashback when you go through them to sign up with First Direct. From what I can tell, go to your TCB, find FD, follow the referral link to FD website, go to Bank Accounts at the top of the screen, then Ways to Bank, go to Our Mobile app, scroll down and scan the QR code which will download the FD app from your store, and then follow the app for signing up. I've just done this myself and am currently waiting for their reply to my application, so I can't currently confirm if this definitely works, but if you can get both FD and TCB money then that's £211.75 rewards.
