I am one of the lucky ones this time and already had my £300 in the bank this morning. I've not spent any yet, but I have a list and my online shopping finger is poised once I've finished reading here at MSE).
Can anyone else clarify if this is true? I'm absolutely broke and in a bit of a desperate situation.I've had one of the CoL payments just after 9am in the morning. I've not heard of anyone receiving it later in the day. Certain banks may release funds after a certain time in the afternoon but not all of them.Do you have someone that you can borrow some money from? If you don't and you have no food or gas/electric then food banks will be able to help you. https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/debt-and-money/using-a-food-bank/

If you get savings credit, you may be part of Core Group 2 IF your property counts as intrinsically needing high energy costs.
Last year there was an eligibility checker but not so far this year.
Do you know the age and size of your home, and what sort of home is it (flat, semi-detached, etc.)?
Edit: this is assuming you're in England or Wales. If you're in Scotland there isn't the property energy costs requirement, but you do have to apply via your supplier and I'm not sure if the savings credit part of Pension Credit does entitle anyone or not. When they changed the scheme in England and Wales they seem to have tightened up the criteria in Scotland too. That's not true. I am in the core group 2 where the qualifying benefits are:Qualifying benefits and tax credits
The qualifying means-tested benefits are:
- Housing Benefit
- income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
- income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
- Income Support
- the ‘Savings Credit’ part of Pension Credit
- Universal Credit
I get the savings credit part of the pension credit.
Being in receipt of pensions savings credit does not guarantee core group 2 status, as Spoonie said you also need to be deemed as living in a home with a high energy cost score too. It explains this on the link you posted.

That's an early Christmas list Nuke beers on your tab. I think I got mine last year about the end of the deadline. I preferred the application for warm home at least you got instant notification. I wonder if it will ever return back to that process.

12th of September I got £270 universal credit as I work too, will I still get it if I got paid something in the assessment period which I did? Also had a text saying the cost of living dates.0

Yes, you are entitled to it because you were entitled to a payment of UC in an assessment period that ended between 18th August and 17th September.

Me neither! I'm abit worried about electric lasting. I honestly thought I was getting paid this friday but turns out its next tuesday so I shot myself in the foot0

I was really surprised to get mine yesterday. I did get a text message last week saying I was entitled to it. I am on ESA.I don't have a pre-payment meter but an easy saver card, I put the money in and when the bill arrives all I have paid in is taken off the bill. So straight split between gas and electric and paid in yesterday.1
