Morning all
Valli I hope today is more settled for you xx
Terrible night's sleep here, which seems to be par for the course ATM. I did remember to get the chicken out to defrost for lunch at 1am so that's something!!
I will be AWOL for a couple of days visiting Mum, normally I would shudder a bit at the thought normally but I NEED a break from here -from mud, from thinking about meals, from a constantly filthy floor etc etc. DD had a friend to sleep last night so has been far more sassy than normal...
Right I am going to have brekkie, take care all and I will see you on the new thread xx

I do hope your need for showers settles down very soon Valli. Your atittude and fortitude is so robust about the ongoing situation means that I sometimes forget how much you're still dealing with, like having to balance taking certain drugs with real, actual, day to day life. And, on another level, ASB, you dealing with sassy kids, mud, rain and wind, exhaustion and extreme budgetting. Good on you for keeping going but I'm glad you're going to have a bit of a break.House looks reasonable after the efforts yesterday, but I know our bathroom could do with a bit of a swish and a swipe. In the Lidl Too Good to Waste box this week was quite a bit of ginger root. We're doing a rhubarb, apple and blackberry crumble for pudding this afternoon. Does anyone have any idea if we can use any of that ginger to add a bit more flavour, or would it be too bitter? I can grate and freeze it anyway for other uses but while it's still fresh it could be useful, couldn't it?Better is good enough.7

Brew 2 supped. Breakfast eaten. Got dressed. Fed the birds. Put out the rubbish and recycling. Coffee supped. Read a couple of magazines, now in the recycling box. Drove into town to pick up my repeat prescription and called in Mr Al's on the way home. Groceries all put away. No need to go anywhere tomorrow now. Man is due to come to service the boiler between 12 and 5 tomorrow. The last time I arranged that timing he turned up in the morning!!! He can come when he likes now.
Lunch next

@pigpen I can't really complain because DH told them to do that.@Valli glad to hear you're better today; hope it continues. This morning I had a good walk before the rain started. Stopped off at a bakery/deli and bought one of their large cheese straws, which have some caraway seeds on the top, and are absolutely delicious. I heated it for a few minutes just now and we shared it, and I had a glass of red wine from a bottle that I opened last night. It seemed doubly nice as it is cold, grey and wet outside. After I came back from my walk DH wanted to go to the park but just as we were about to go out it started to rain so we drove to a local museum cafe instead and had a coffee, which was nice. I had an Ocado order coming between 12 and 1 and just as we were pulling up, at about 11.30, my mobile rang and it was the Ocado driver saying he couldn't find our address. I could see him on his phone so I pulled up next to him and said 'follow me'. It seemed a re-run of yesterday, with him coming early and with no warning, but at least I didn't end up with everything in the corridor outside the flat! It wasn't problem-free though as I dropped a tub of trifle as I was putting things away and it spilled out. Fortunately it was on the kitchen floor so easy to clean up and not on our newly cleaned carpets, which would have been annoying.Going to prepare lunch now and then DH wants to watch 'An Inspector Calls', which I was supposed to record earlier in the week. Fortunately it is available to rent on Amazon Prime, which has saved my bacon!8
