I hope you managed to get the paint off yourself before going out! I'm not a quiz person myself (unless the questions are on famous horses or plants) but it's a way of having time away and meeting people as well s learning things no one knew they didn't know. It's nice you will have time with your eldest, too.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

I used to love quiz night, until suddenly all the questions seemed to be about TV. You can tell how much I watch because my scaffolders broke my aerial and I didn't realise for 6 days.

The course sounds great, and even better seems to have given you a spring to your step!
I always do courses in Sep and Jan terms, I love learning and also meet new different people. I find the courses in Jan a lifesaver for MH as there is something to focus on in those grey Jan evenings.
I am currently doing some software type courses but weirdly enjoying learning a new 'language' and am enjoying dreaming up what I can do with all this new knowledge.
Mind you today in class I wrote a love song in the style of Adele in AI today and had another app make it into a truly dodgy song... plus AI wrote the brilliant lyric 'our love went insane' .. hmmmDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Thanks dfwb321 yes a very bittersweet moment.
Cherryfudge it was good to meet up with friends and I wasn’t green except for the specks on my specs.
Badmemory we didn’t do great as at least 10 of the questions was tv related and we don’t have it on that often.
LWAP I do feel so much better as it’s a life decision that’s specifically for me and it’s not something I’m used to doing.
Feel like I’m pushing treacle up a hill with a particular pension fund. Contacted them again today they now want a death certificate etc and my address. No I can not repay it over the phone, they must send a letter 😤. It’s the endless waiting that is driving me loopy. I understand why but surely all this hoop jumping isn’t needed. Dad’s estate owes them not the other way round. So I will sit on the money a bit longer. Sorry rant over.Love 🐞

I feel your pain with pensions. PPF wrote off the few hundred they overpaid to Mr Redo which was helpful. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese
GNU Mr Redo3 -
I did wonder if the problem could be something to do with the tax paid on that pension. If they have deducted tax & notified HMRC. Some systems are set up to deal with these things better than others.

Redofromstart I doubt they will write it off as it’s over a thousand pounds.
Badmemory I think you are correct about what is causing the delay with HMRC.
Yesterday was a slow day after sorting out the pension and the visit to the hospital with the youngest.I did manage to go through my wardrobe and extract my summer clothes ready for storage. I have put aside a few things to sell next spring that I haven’t worn for quite sometime.Today’s plan is to meet with a friend for lunch, slap some more paint on walls and get miss giddychops out for a decent walk.OH and I will sit down and look at our finances tonight to see if we can put any additional money away ready for when UC and CB stops in April. I did find out that despite me filling in the form they sent to inform them that the youngest was staying on at College they had stopped payments in September (month dad passed) which I hadn’t noticed. Also UC had stopped, so telephoned them also. They will back date it , they hadn’t received form😤. OH car failed its MOT, cost over £800 to rectify and my car cost £120 to get it ready for winter. Car fund is now empty. In fact all pots are now empty due to paying mortgage off.Best get started on my list of jobs for today

Managed 3 jobs out of 4. So not bad going. Didn’t manage the financial chat.Friend paid for lunch so only paid for 2nd cuppa (£3.45).Spent a lovely couple of hours with her and had an actual choice for lunch (lots of gluten free choices), although £10 odd for a sandwich and a tiny bit of salad made my eyes water😖.Slapped another coat of paint on, will definitely need another coat on. It is very bright and very green. Not quite sure if I’m happy with it. I suspect by the time we’ve got furniture and new shelves up it will look better. I might of bought too much paint as I’m still on my first can, might need to see if I can find the receipt and take the other 2 back.Miss giddychops enjoyed her plods, involved lots of sniffing and stops.Frugalness for today
1. Used nature’s tumble dryer
2. Tea was a unlabelled box from the freezer, was hoping for pesto and got salsa verde instead. Added cheese and garlic. Tasted ok.
3. free exercise- painting (lots of stretching) and 2 walks.
Plan for tomorrow is to visit youngest bf, slap more paint on the walls and put back furniture once dried, walk miss giddychops, mmmm get rhubarb crumble out the freezer.
Right best try and get some shut eye, although I’m not tired as I fell asleep after tea.
Love 🐞

Glad you had a good time with your friend.I’m pretty certain that the green will ‘calm down’ once furnished 😊 I’m guessing you are using it in a room that doesn’t get much natural light? It does sound like you have a wee bit too much paint though! 😉
Well done on using nature’s tumble dryer - I think that season is over here for this year - with no breeze and very limited sunlight (we are in quite a sheltered valley here) I don’t think I will be doing any more drying outside until March now, sadly …
