Holiday accommodation is lovely, having to think about logistics and getting the youngest in the house though. They are over the moon to be here , says they are home. They says it every time we come to this town. They are super excited that their grandparents are join us later on in the week. They are coming by train as they want to go over the ribble viaduct.Frugalness for today.
1. Homemade leek and potato soup for tea (allotment grown tatties).
2. Snacks were pears and apples from the plot.
3. Homegrown tomatoes have been roasted ready for breakfast tomorrow.

We are mortgage free as of today. It’s finally gone. Just waiting for confirmation from the bank. So pleased but also sad as it’s only because I got part of my inheritance today. Dad would have been so pleased. Unable to celebrate properly as OH is ill in bed, he had his Covid and flu jabs yesterday.Beautiful day in the lakes, the youngest has enjoyed whizzing about in their chair. Must remember to ring orthotics tomorrow about their shoes.Love 🐞

Congratulations! I completely get that it's a sad time as well, but I imagine your Dad would have been delighted to have helped. Perhaps it will feel more right to celebrate once the jabs have worn off (hopefully soon) and you are back home.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Well, congratulations on being mortgage free 🎉🥳🤩
I appreciate it is bitter sweet, but I hope that over time, as you see the benefits of being MF (more of your earnings being yours, the pressure of the mortgage being lifted etc.) it will feel like freedom.

Thanks everyone, it’s not sunk in yet. I reimbursed my mum the money dad said he was giving me but changed his mind at the last moment and she generously stumped up the extra to cover our mortgage ( march/April this year when we remortgaged) She said I didn’t need to give it her as it was a gift but I’ve insisted she has it. My mum is an absolute gem.In laws arrived and we’ve done a ghost walk around the local town. (2nd walk of the day) The youngest was very apprehensive and I did think that’s they would back out. However, they came and loved it. The ghost host was excellent, very mindful of the youngest and their chair. Totally accessible entertainment, would highly recommend https://www.lakelandhauntings.co.uk/
Everyone is exhausted now.
