Hi Ladybird, I'm sorry to hear you're having a bad week. When you think how much you've coped with recently (and long term) it's hardly surprising. Sort of spiritually running on air, if that makes sense. How can you nourish yourself, body and soul, to try to build yourself up?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

After a trip to the chiropractor who worked on a particular painful area I decided to get my butt into gear. I phoned student finance to see how many years funding I’ve got left as I started a OU degree many years ago and then the youngest developed MH issues and I lost interest in what I was doing. Turns out the degree I want to do is an allied health profession course which means I could apply for SF for all of it🥳. So, signed up for the up and coming open day. Need to do loads of research on the job, course etc. I might end up do a foundation year plus degree but it’s a move in the right direction. It was a job I’ve thought about for many years but had to dismiss as the youngest needed me at home. The ramp will the final piece of the independence puzzle hopefully. I need to look into whether I can get a maintenance loan to cover travel expenses etc if not I’ll use my inheritance money. Absolutely over the moon, I’ve felt so down lately with everything that’s happened this year and felt drained by supporting other people with their illnesses etc.
Still so much to do in relation to dad’s house and contents. Phoned HMRC who have indicated we have nothing additional to pay as of yet. They are waiting to hear from one pension company. T/C to them, turns out they been waiting to hear who to contact even though they were informed by the TELL THEM ONCE scheme. So that ball is finally rolling but may take sometime to sort arghhhhh. Can’t even tell me at the moment if we owe them anything 😤. More moving of furniture etc. OH and I have decided not to have certain things we wanted originally, so they can go when clearance company come. We did sort through some stuff last night as we have new to us bed side tables. Still need to paint the room that we prepped several weeks ago but ran out of steam.
Started this morning with a very gentle yoga 🧘♀️ stretch session. Best get a wriggle on the sun is out and I have washing to dry.
love 🐞.

The course sounds really exciting! Well done for getting back to it. I've just discovered I'd not finished a short course I was doing through FutureLearn and I have a couple of weeks to complete it so I'm back in there. I really enjoy studying but do find it hard to get past the 'looking at the mountain I have to climb' stage.
I found the decisions on inherited furniture were hard, but realistically couldn't keep all the things I wanted. I'm happy with what I have, and also went through a strange stage of taking things home and finding that they belonged in the past and just weren't right for my home, though I'd felt I had to hold on to them. Grieving has to work through some complex things, and time pressure is an added factor, but you'll get through. It's so good you have something to look forward to for yourself.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Much sympathy from me, but it sounds like you have made some really positive decisions for the future.

Thanks cherryfudge. The furniture is something that originally was in my parent’s house and my dad had it when they divorced. However I found out mum actually hated the bloomin thing, so I was ok with letting it go. Plus it’s big and bulky and we really don’t have the space.Redofromstart I’ve been reading your diary and can sympathise with the wading through all the paperwork, dealing with jobworths at the end of the phone, trying to find homes for treasured but unwanted possessions, declutterring a lifetime of stuff on top of dealing with grief (in its many forms) plus you having to support others.Love 🐞

You sound so much brighter and your excitement about the course is zinging off the page at me - lovely 🤩😊🎉🥳
There will be down days but it sounds like you are pulling back some balance, where you get chance to take care of you a bit more - this is a good thing 😊

Thanks kk
Started the painting, got way too much on myself, in fact I could have auditioned for wicked🧙♀️Just having a moment before I get ready to go out with friends who I’ve not seen since last year. The eldest is coming too, they are catching the train home to go to the quiz with us and then catching the train back to uni town in the morning. She is making a special trip as I always refuse to go to the quiz ( I hate it as I find them boring), but decided to yes to more things. She’s striking while the iron is hot🤣.
