As a fellow CP warrior I loathe winter so much & and the change in temperature. I now want an opal fruits area in my house... wonder if DH would object if the magnolia disappeared while he was at work?
@KajiKita, thank you for planting the idea of psychological housekeeping. The term is new to me, but what a useful insight!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Beanielou the youngest has finally agreed that thermals would be a good idea. We’ve had order them as they didn’t have their size. Not the day I had planned as I had a phone call mid morning from OH asking me to pop round to his parents as his dad had collapsed again. Decided I wasn’t messing about told him to get in the car and took them both to A&E to get checked out due to his recent heart op. Several long, long hours later he was finally discharged with antibiotics as they think it’s a uti.Sat for 2 flamin hours sewing on 2 intricate patchwork fish onto the eldest favourite top. These were to cover several tiny holes. I’m pleased with the results and will send it with mum, as she is visiting the eldest at the weekend.
Frugalness for today
1. Dropped in laws off at A&E and parked about a quarter of mile away instead of paying parking fees( you can never get a parking spot after 1030 absolute nightmare)
2. The youngest paid for their own thermals and underwear as I conveniently forgot my purse🤣
3. Lunch was leftovers and tea was from freezer (pesto from the allotment in the summer).
4. Not sure if this counts …. Patches costs £10, saved eldest top from being thrown in the bin.
Hmmmmm that’s it.

UTIs get worse as you get older, as in the effects of them impact life more. An 80 yr old friend got one & was in hospital for 2 weeks then a home for a couple of weeks before he could go home. He had absolutely no memory of being in hospital. They don't seem to lead to large increases in temp which can be misleading for a carer but can have devastating & usually temporary affects which resemble dementia. So basically once he has had one keep an eye out for a repeat

It sounds a difficult time, but you saved the day.
I hope your FiL is feeling better soon. Well done on the clothing victories (and not having to pay for the thermals!). I love it when people can keep clothing out of landfill, and it's nice for your eldest to be able to keep a favoured item.

We had that happen exact same situation with fil at the beginning of the year badmemory .
We try to be as environmentally friendly in this household cherryfudge , although col is making this harder each time I shop.
The purse situation was not designed that way but means to an end beanielou.Plan for today is taking mil to the supermarket and then go over to dads to feed fish and then load the car for a tip run. Come home, sand where holes have been filled and then sugar soap the walls ready for painting tomorrow.

Did most of my jobs list except when i got home I just slumped again. Just layed on the couch feeling very down but angry at the same time.Today is super busy, so hopefully I won’t have time to dwell. Lots of running around with and for the youngest. Going to check my bank account and see if I can afford to join the gym, as my mood is incredibly low and this might help. I think because miss giddychops is getting slower and not able to walk as far, my condition prevents me from riding my bike or swimming, my fitness level is deteriorating fast. Time to take the bull by the horns. The gym isn’t frugal but I need an incentive and a home workout isn’t it. Plus it will be time for me.
