Pulling my frugal pants on.

  • Your course is a lot cheaper than the one I’m looking at debtwannabe123. Still undecided as my sister works shifts , so I’d have to go on my own.
This morning took fil up to the plot after taking miss giddychops out and hanging the washing out. Spent a good couple of hours weeding, weeding and more weeding. Compost bins are almost at full capacity, so I’m not sure where the rest will go. We’ve a tree over on the orchard. It’s a cider tree. Hopefully get it back up tomorrow with OH help. Lots of watering and more blackberries picking. No sign of Thomosina today. Youngest went to the gym with mum which meant I could crack on with painting the ceiling of the room the eldest will use when they come back from uni. 2 coats done, hopefully paint the walls tomorrow. The eldest is back from their soggy holiday, but they broke down about 10 miles from home.
    frugalness for today.
    1.  Harvested blackberries, cucumbers. Podded dried peas for seed next year.
    2. Used natures tumble drier.
    3. Free exercise with miss giddychops and the plot.
    4. Homemade pizza for tea with salad from the plot.
    5. Rumtopf ( blackberry infused) for drinks

  • Arghhhhhhhhhhhh. My dad has been over this pm and he is so impatient. 😡 i could cheerfully throttle him. He needed help, which I did but he wasn’t looking and was telling me the winch needed to take something higher and then it was my fault because he wasn’t looking to check that it was at full extension. It stopped working and instead of ringing the company to get them to come out he starts hacking at the rope to release the  scooter. I kept saying it’s not that, it won’t make any difference, but no he continued to hack it. Invalidated his warranty. Anyway to cut a long story short and keep expletives to a minimum it was a fuse and my bil sorted it. I’m exhausted by him, it’s like this every time something goes wrong, he has the inability to think things through these days. Just needed to off load
Right best get painting gear on.

  • Room will need another coat of paint tomorrow 😒.
     Frugalness for today
    1. Paint is leftovers from when we’ve done other rooms, hopefully we can eke it out.
    2. Free exercise via miss giddychops and the plot.
    3. Harvested potatoes and cabbage for tomorrow’s tea(should have been today’s but ran out of time). Did spot 2 elephant hawk moths caterpillars on the plot. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deilephila_elpenor
Also spot lots of cinnabar moth caterpillars https://www.norfolkwildlifetrust.org.uk/wildlife-explorer/invertebrates/moths/cinnabar#:~:text=These%20pretty%20black%20and%20red,signal%20that%20they%20are%20poisonous!

Oh dear …. The dad thing sounds like hard work … Sympathies.

Well done on the productivity 😊 Is Miss Giddychops aware of how much money she saves you on a gym subscription…? 😉😊❤️

  • I think OH parents must of heard my dad had caused issues and decided they couldn’t be left out. Let’s just say words were said. But out of a negative we had a lovely positive. The youngest wanted to take their dad out to a localish park where they had seen ring necked parakeets a couple of months ago. Although the park was very busy once you were off the beaten path it was quiet. Birds were spotted, so people were happy. Spent £13.45 on cake and coffee as we hadn’t planned the outing as it was a spur of the moment thing.
Didn’t manage to get to the plot as planned, but we have shift furniture back into the freshly painted room. Decluttering hasn’t happened due to being shattered.
Not a particularly frugal day but could have been worse. Time for a rumtoft

  • Another day.
Ramp for the youngest has been approved and they don’t have to contribute to the cost. Just need to wait to hear from architect department when they will come out to draw up plans. 🥳
Right best go pick up mil and take them to dentist.
