Ah love the sound of your adopted cat.
  • Met up with the youngest in town once they’d been for their counselling session and had lunch. (£24.98). Ended up at ikea as we desperately needed something large to make the rumtopf in as we literally can't ram any more in the freezer. New coat hangers for the youngest as they are unable to use some of the ones they’ve got(dexterity issues), a new scrubbing brush for OH and several glass lidded jars for apple rings.  🤐 plus a plant, shhhhhhh. (£45ish). Massive queue the youngest was starting to lose the will to live. Visited the plot, thomasina (cat- not sure if it’s male or female) was milling about. Only had time for a quick scratch behind the ears as I’d only gone to water, harvest grapes and blackberries.
    frugalness for today
    1. Harvested blackberries and grapes.
    2. Tea contained our potatoes, tomatoes and cucumber.
    3. Free exercise courtesy of miss giddychops
    4.  Dad sent over dog food that his dog turned his nose up at. Will provide 6 dinners for her.
    5. He has also sent me a huge bag of change that I can use to buy a meal out when I take mum on holiday. Just got to count it.

Thinking of signing up for a dressmaking course as it’s always been something I’ve wanted to do.

Ooh, I've always wanted to sew too! I hope you can do it!

I'm not sure if this is relevant for your youngest, but sometimes clothes stay on hangars better if you wrap an elastic band round each end of the hangar's 'arms'.
I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

  • Thanks for the suggestion regarding the coat hangers cherryfudge, will give it a go. I  was made to pinky swear in the middle of ikea , that I would only buy one plant by the youngest. It’s a cocos nucifera. Hopefully this one will live a long life🤣. Sounds like OH has finished sugar soap the eldest room, so we can eat finally🥳.

I looked up cocos nucifera: they can grow to 100 feet tall. :D It didn't say how long that takes but I expect you have a bit of a wait.

  • Hmmmm that is very tall, I shall have to move to a mansion with tall ceilings to accommodate it, methinks.🤣 . I will probably kill it with either too much love or too little before I have to worry.

Ah sounds like a productive day and well done on the 1 plant, Thomosina is as good a name
as any 😁. Ooh I would love to go and pick some blackberries, not sure where there are any though round here.
  • I bought two plants the other week when I was in ikea  but both were reduced so I think it was okay
I went to sign up for a dressmaking course here recently but it was £120 and then I needed to pay extra for materials, patterns etc and I felt I ought to leave it for now. It's something I would love to learn too!
