My period of recuperation was very short lived. DH came home complaining his eye was hurting, on close examination I found a wooden splinter (size of a pin head) on his cornea. Tried irrigating it but it was firmly stuck, queue dash to A and E, dropped him off and then went and picked FIL up who was at a different hospital having dye injected into his veins, visit to pharmacy and GP surgery and then luckily DH was discharged from hospital. After numbing it they were able to remove it and have given him antibiotics. Not sure how he is going to administer that on site. I've gave him wipes and antibacterial gel to take with him.
The eldest interview went well apparently, unfortunately due to the weather they were unable to explore the city. If they are offered a place there, they want to go back down to get a feel of the city before making a decision.
Supposed I best get up. The youngest has decided they would like to go into town on the bus, on their own today. I have mixed feelings as this is something they have not done before. Last time we tried transport training it wasn't very successful and they refused to engage with the trainer. Talked about asking the driver to get the ramp out and not giving personal information to people they don't know. More importantly paying attention to where the bus is dropping them off. It's good they are been more independent. But.........

Other than a minor hiccup the youngest managed to get off the bus on their own. Getting on was a little tricker but with practice I think they will manage. Just waiting for them in our designated pick point. My word it's cold.

Thanks beanielou, the youngest was so pleased with themselves. Today however they have crashed and burned. Absolutely no energy at all, not even enough to go get a muffin.
Managed to get mum into the car for a drive into the peak. Went via a route that tends to have lots of flowers, it's currently snowdrop, but not be long till it's daffs. Called at the farmshop, picked up cakes and other goodies as a treat. By the time we got back mum was ready to get her leg up.
DH currently watching the rugby through a slime blur (antibiotics).

And to round the week off, the youngest is now ill. They will not be going to college, they will not be going on their first proper date with the boyfriend, they will not be practising using the bus, they will not be passing go and collecting £200. DH will have to use his last annual leave day to stay with them whilst I ferry MIL to the dentist and then mum to the hospital tomorrow. May have alter a few plans. I'm supposed to be meeting dad and sister for lunch this week as it's the anniversary of my sister's mum death. I might have to leave earlier than planned. I can't alter taking another family member to an appointment due to their health needs, especially as this is the first time they've agreed to someone going with them. Moved sm shop to today, whilst DH is massacring a large shrub at my sister's house. Housework can wait, but I have seeds etc to sow. This is vital as we heavily rely on the plot to offset food spend. Motivation is very low, so I need to look at making a list. I don't like lists as I feel compelled to do everything on the list and then feel bad if I don't get it all done. All psychological as nothing will happen if I don't, but you know...... Anyway a list will start the ball rolling and then I'll ignore it once I'm back in the groove.

Motivated myself to pot on what has sprouted. Success rate has been very hit and miss. 1 chilli out of 10, 6 peppers out 16 and 4 aubergines out of 16. Onions have been better, over 50% germination. I suspect this is due to all the other things I have to deal with and just not paid attention, some of the soil was very dry. Resown more of the above except onions plus 4 types of tomatoes, celery and cabbages. Just need to shuffle various things round the window sills. Felt good to get my hands in the soil.
Sm was not so good, really busy, but went with a list and only bought 2 additional things. £96.88, alot of that was a bulk buy of a certain cereal which was part of my points saved 61p per box. Never had this offer before, so bulk bought. Shopped from the cupboards, freezer and plot first and made a meal plan.
Right best clear up after myself and hunt for propagater lids

One of the great advantages of being retired is being able to time the supermarket shop & never having to leave home at the weekend. I miss 24 hour supermarket opening which they used covid as an excuse for stopping. I used to take DS for the train well before 7am & shopping then was great. All the shelf fillers were still there from overnight & were a really cheerful lot who always said good morning & their boss was really nice too. Once they finished at 7 it was like misery city. Just shows what a difference a boss can make.
