Workshop was OK, but found it very difficult to get into the inspired zone as the youngest was in town and kept pop backing. The theory behind it all was very interesting.
DH managed to prep the eldest room for painting which hopefully will be started today. Totally exhausted by 6 and fell asleep which meant sleeping when I should of been sleeping was difficult. Blood test on Monday to see if my B12 injection date needs moving. I'm wondering if my iron levels are low and that's why I've been so tired the last couple of months.

    Frugalness for yesterday
    1. Batched cooked carnivore spag bol (7) and Veggie spag bol(5). Added loads of veggies to pad it out included some shredded courgette from the summer
    2. Cut up another tube of cream from the youngest discarded mountain of stuff to get what's left. I currently smell of roses.
    3. Added the lonely 1p leftover from this week's spends to the fun pot
    4. We both fell asleep, so didn't get to the pub as planned🤦🏻‍♀️🤣.

    Jobs for today
    1. Visit the allotment and dig up the rest of the leeks.
    2. Make soup
    3. Start decorating eldest room
    4. Sort airing cupboard

  • £31.10 in the fun pot. Rang fil, we are going to the allotment for half an hour. He's not well at the moment, so hopefully so fresh air will lift his spirit if nothing else. I'm going for veggies and seeing how it's weather these last couple of weeks without us.

Hope the allotment was restorative for FiL and you got a good haul of leeks 😊

Leek haul was pitiful KK, but the forced rhubarb was fantastic. Fil was glad to get up there but was very tired after an hour. Planning to take him up again at the weekend to sow more broad beans. He can stand and put them into pots in the greenhouse. Rhubarb currently in the oven with a layer of crumble. Popped to mums house to give her car a run out and to pick up her ice cream maker as you can't have crumble without ice cream. Also picked up additional clothes, some knitting and crocheting.
    Frugalness
    1. Homegrown rhubarb crumble and ice cream
    2. Batch cooked soup (10 portions)
    3. Harvested rhubarb, leeks, psb and parsnips.
    4. Wm, car dw going on cheap tariff times.
    5. Starting on another book swap book.
    6. Used nature's tumble dryer

Well done on the rhubarb 😊 You must be further south than me as my rhubarb is only just starting to surface. Can’t force mine this year as I did it last year - only have one clump. I thought I didn’t like it and then I made crumble with part flour, part ground almonds - Yee gods, the transformation! 🤩

Glad FiL felt some benefit 😊

I was using your phrase this weekend of ‘using nature’s tumble dryer’ - far more successfully yesterday (2 loads pretty well fully dry) than Friday when we had hot sunshine followed by epic showers! Had to respin my washing in the end!! 🤷‍♀️😂😂

  • KK I use a combination of oats, flour and nuts to make my crumble topping and some times the odd teaspoon of ground ginger.
Had a bit of a wobble today when talking to the Dr regarding a health condition as they mentioned the possibility of it becoming cancerous. Was not prepared for that one. Ended up Dr googling and the chances of that happening are slim but possible. So every month regular visual and physical self check required. Good job I'm flexible. Blood test this afternoon, she couldn't find a vein. Full kit and kaboodle been tested for, results by Thursday 🤞. Kept myself busy, cleaning, decluttering and running around trying to get stuff SORTED. Managed to upload bank statements for mortgage, the whole process seems to be never ending.
    Frugalness
    1. Used nature's tumble dryer.
    2. Found some more stuff to sell. Really must get the ball rolling with this one.
    3. Tea - plot provided potatoes, garlic and psb
    4. No money spent except for hay-fever meds for the youngest.
