Badmemory that sounds like an awful experience. Mum is apparently having some medicine they inject to reduce the risk of dvt. Been to see her this afternoon and they might be turfing her out either tonight or tomorrow after she's had an echogram as they have discovered she has a heart mummur. We both realised she has no skirts or dresses (trousers are not going over the pot). So quick trip to Cs and got her 2 skirts and 3 dresses, not her style but hey beggars can't be choosers.

I have every sympathy with the hospital type shopping. When I knew I was going in I had to get a new dressing gown as I was using my fathers who died in 2000 & I thought in view of that I had better have a new nightshirt too. The op (hip replacement) was well worth it though. Amazingly the stomach/aspirin problem took longer to recover from than the absolute dream of the hip replacement. I do however still blink when I remember listening to what seemed like a hammer & chisel being taken to my side. No bed pans ever involved & even better absolutely no catheter.

Single bed is up in the front room and bought new bedding, so we're all set for mum to be discharged.
In other news DH workplace has decided to offer the opportunity to buy additional holidays, just need to find out how many we can buy. An additional week would be useful as you never know when unplanned appointments for the youngest might arise. Not particularly frugal, but needs must. Not been particularly frugal on the food shopping front either. Totally forgot list, forgot meal plan, forgot budget..... major brain fog. No point beating myself up over it.

With your mum’s accident and the prep you needed to do to get the house ready for her coming to yours, I suspect your head has been in the shed! Like you say, no point beating yourself up about it. You can amuse yourself with interesting meal combinations for a while 😉

Interesting is certainly the word KK.
Literally just waiting for mums drugs and then she is free to come home. Set up the bed in the front room. The youngest has made her a welcome home banner and has been with DH to get her some flowers. The youngest has helped chose coming home clothes and packed them in a bag. Most I've seen them do in ages. The eldest is coming home tomorrow as they had a wobble the other day, so we've told them to come home for hugs, home cooked food and time to talk things through. They originally said no but a message mum sent them, clinched the deal. So it's going to be a full house, shame DH is working all weekend.
Dad is ill, so popped in to see him and walked the dog. I have to do his shopping Sunday. We did have words again, told him I'm not prepared to be piggy in the middle and if he has an issue with mum to speak to her.
Car passed it's MOT super pleased as it's a issue/expense I could do without.

When s*** happens you have to prioritise. You have done just that. Pity DH isn't there to share the load, but as they say it is what it is.

Well done for getting your mum home and being assertive with your dad. Hoping the full house brings you joy as well as work 😊
