I had a Tesco delivery today; sprouts, carrots, broccoli and parsnips all 15p. Sprouts a tad smaller than I would have personally selected, rest perfect.

Sainsbury's do currently have buy 6 wines for 25% off, ends tomorrow if you've left it a bit late!

My partner is a huge fan of Japanese whisky - I've pinched the odd glass here and there, we both prefer Toki Suntory to Tenjaku, both of which show up in supermarkets on occasion. He has a bottle of Hatozaki I bought online under the tree to try.

... me too ... I've not tried the Hatozaki, please let me know  :).

He says it's more complex than the Toki, and probably not something you could drink too much of - what he likes about the Toki is there's not a lot going on with it so it's so drinkable! Probably won't get it again, but this bottle will certainly be enjoyed and it's nice to change it up. He tried one in Japan that he absolutely adored that began with an H, alas, not this one. There's a few other 'H's' available in the UK, but they're quite expensive and without knowing which one I'm not willing to gamble over £50 on a bottle.

I got the cheaper blended version and paid £25.29 from amazon (deal and subscribe and save discount) - I only had a tiny sip, but think it's worth a go at that sort of price. It's so personal as to what people enjoy and you might love it. Merry Christmas!

    ... and a Happy New Year to you @Mnoee ... 🥂🍾.

I get mine from Waitrose and take the advice from the drinks specialist. She has picked out a couple of blended Japanese whiskies for me before but no more than £25. The good thing about Waitrose is that they do reductions (yellow stickers) on whiskies every now and again, when they do a range change, and I have been lucky enough to buy some that would normal retail at £40-£50 for £12-£14.

I shall have to speak to her about the 'H' whiskies and maybe she can put one by for me if one is given the big 'E'  ;).

My local Sainsbury's has been reducing quite a few things today, primarily due to BBDs but I've picked up a couple of TTD Bleu D'Affinois cheese for £1.10 each. I've not heard of that before and looks like its a brie type and I do like my brie.

I have been disappointed today though when driving to the next town to do my main shopping between 09:00 and 11:00 ... Aldi, Lidl, Iceland, and Home Bargains all closed. Sainsbury's looked as though it had been ransacked ... no bargains and nobody filling the shelves or totes, or changing tickets, clearly was in the state it had been left in on Sunday. As stated above though, my town's Sainsbury's was in a much better state.
  • I thought the big 4 were doing the decent thing and letting their staff have Boxing Day off? Or was it a local Sainsbury's you visited?

I didn't try any of the other 'big four' supermarkets but I visited both the Sainsbury's in the next town, edge of town 'large' and the one in my town centre 'medium/large', neither of which are the small 'express' type.

They were reducing quite a few cheeses in my town's Sainsbury's ... I was talking to the 'fresh' reductions chap who pointed out some to me. He did show me what looked like a pyramid of four common cheeses each round and separately wrapped reduced from £8 to £4, I didn't buy ... I also couldn't find it online.

Some things reduced in Aldi today but I suspect the bulk went on Saturday. Some larger puddings now 1/2 price- small ones slightly reduced. Stollen  bites reduced..... nothing much left otherwise.

    Oddments of decorations, candles etc.

I went to Waitrose yesterday and bought 2 half price Christmas puddings and some beautiful Christmas cards for £1 a pack.

Now all I have to do next Christmas is remember that I don’t have to buy any cards :D.  The Christmas pudding will be eaten long before December.
