We went to M & S yesterday.  Loads of cheap mince pies plus a “selection box” of Christmassy items reduced from £16 to £3.75  :). I was looking for a Christmas cake but they had been sold out before Christmas but the “selection box” had a small one.

I think every shop that sells food has reduced mince pies to get rid of stock.  They need the room for hot x buns and Easter eggs  :D
My local co op has had hot cross buns since the first week of December 😔😔

Today in Tesco found their 'Finest Rosemary nut selection' in seasonal packaging. 225 g was £4 reduced to 87 pence. Mainly almonds.
I  nearly bought their 1/2 price brandied cake mix- 800g for £2.50 then worked out it wasn't that great a deal (500 g of sultanas for 99 pence after all)

Sainsburys has 6 iced topped mince pies for 67p today. I nearly caved in but eaten too much stuff like this the last few week's.
  • Found some in Asda this evening - I bought some truffles - originally £4 and reduced to £2 last week - but nothing else took my fancy. The polar bears expire in Sept 2024 so I suppose could be doled out at Easter if you are prepared to ignore Christmas labelling:

The big bargain had unsurprisingly gone - this is the 350g sized orange crisp which was reduced to £1.75 last week:

This time last year I would have snapped them up and used them for baking over time (eg as a great shortcut to a light fruit cake)! But they are ultra-processed so can stay on the shelves along with the "healthy" butter substitute.

I'm not sure that they qualify as ultra processed- can't of course read the teeny print on the label but it looks as if the bulk of the jar contents are various fruits. (Yes, glucose syrup) Certainly not reconstituted  pork  or the like!
It will be well used in this house, mixed with apple etc. the last jar I used was best before some date in 2022.....
