Bargain! Shame they wont be this cheap the closer we get to Christmas!
  • I am looking to purchase a single malt for the old man for Christmas.  Morrisons seem to have a few good offers ATM.

I bought four on Friday I hadn't tried before, all on offer (3 at Waitrose, 1 at Sainsbury's). My favourite of them Penderyn (Welsh) ... golden nectar 46% ... Sainsbury's £27 Nectar Price.

Even on current offers, they are nowhere near as inexpensive as these YS bottom of the range pies! They have lots of different varieties, but at 2 boxes for £4.50 that still works out to be 37.5p/pie.

I had a blow-out this weekend on rugs, they are works of art and will last many lifetimes. I cannot imagine being able to do this if I was buying premium priced foods or expensive treats like this every week.

@thriftytracey - Waitrose seem to be having a bit of a whisky-fest on atm, the Japanese one looked interesting. I'm personally not a fan of whisky unless it is to be found in fruit cake.

Just read today in the Aldi food 'catalogue' that the veg prices will be the same as last year. So, looks like 19 pence veggies- probably the week before Christmas.

This year I bought my friend's husband a Christmas jumper for £1!  He hasn't been given it yet (Sorry, off topic: not food!)
I was hoping for foodie bargains in Aldi but I think most of the items were well oos so buy when you see.....
.Think I did get a couple of tins of biscuits- dented tins & there were only a couple left so I cheekily asked if they would reduce them and get rid of them: they did!

I did deliberately buy a 500g packet of sprouts for 70p from Sainsbury's last week in the hope they'll give me some Nectar points when I buy a bag for 19p.

Not food, but supermarket markdowns of Christmas ranges have begun. Christmas cards half price in a Sainsbury's Local near me.

Sainsbury's do currently have buy 6 wines for 25% off, ends tomorrow if you've left it a bit late!

My partner is a huge fan of Japanese whisky - I've pinched the odd glass here and there, we both prefer Toki Suntory to Tenjaku, both of which show up in supermarkets on occasion. He has a bottle of Hatozaki I bought online under the tree to try.

I read that the Scottish whisky market has taken a hammering this year.

I stick to Grants / Old Grouse when on offer, its good enough i) for the Christmas cake and ii) to pimp my Irish cream.
