I just upgraded from an iPhone 11 to a 15 Pro. First upgrade I have had in years and I don't regret it. When my contract runs out I will get a SIM only as I am now paying £80 a month for the phone and contract.

I have 2017 Iphone SE bought secondhand for £90 a few years ago. The missus has the 2016 version (less  memory) and thats starting to be a problem as it wont update the O/S, and gradually apps are refusing to work.

Neither of us want anything bigger so there's no obvious alternative at the  moment.

I'm wary of Android as my tablet is only a few years old but can't be updated beyond 7.0.

My current handset (OnePlus Nord 2T) is about 10 months old, before that my previous phone (OnePlus Nord) is the longest I've had a phone (2.5 years).  I would have used it longer, but the charging started to playing up (I had it fixed once, and it played up again).  The main reason I upgraded before that was because the storage kept getting full (4GB, 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB).
My nearly 8-year-old OnePlus X is still going, albeit with OLED screen burn (which only occurred in the last year)

I've been sim free for quite a few years now, last phone was a Samsung Note 9 which I had for nearly 5 years but I had to charge it about 4 times a day thought about getting a battery replacement but instead downgraded to a new Samsung a34 5g and tbh it has the same ram and the latest one ui so it's an improvement!

I kept my2016 SE going till 2022 when I got the newer  2022 SE. Both had 128Gb so were in hindsight, pretty future-proof.
Wish I hadn't switched. New one is easier for my fat fingers but it updated to iOS 17 and no longer talks to my 11-year old macbook and my 11-year old car audio. Okay I updated it but never bothered checking what catastrophes that could cause.
I didn't notice apps stopping working in my older SE.
Now got to figure out a way to get it back to iOS 16.
    Upgrading's not always wise.

Upgraded to a Samsung S22 today. My second preloved handset and you'd struggle to tell it wasn't brand new, just some marks around the edge if you look closely.

Been meaning to get a dual sim model for a while and now have my Three Data Reward Sim in Slot 2.

At 4.5 years my preloved S9 became my longest serving handset (though it was replaced under warranty during that time.) My shortest was ~10 months (wanted a touch screen then transitioned to a smartphone later that year, having taken my one and only Pay Monthly deal.)

My average is probably 2.5 years.
  • I had a pixel 6 pro last may I upgraded it to a pixel 7 pro as I had broke the screen on it but I had used the 6 pro for 12 to 13 months nearly had the pixel 7 pro a year this may I used to change phone every 12 months but I'll keep the pixel 7 pro till that breaks os updates for 3 years and security updates for 5 years

I am using a moto g5 its a perfect size and weight, its just a little slow and the storage runs out easily. Not sure what to get next as I dont want anything too big or heavy and would rather stay with android?

Found out today Apple only provide iOS updates for phones for 6 years after their release. I bought my phone in December 2017 and it does not seem to have the latest iOS version. Latest iOS is 17.3.1 and my phone's iOS version is 16 something.
The phone is still working ok. Speed is fine. Battery runs down a little quickly but is fine for the way I mostly use it. But the lack of updates does add a little more impetus to replacing the phone.
A few days ago, I was thinking of waiting till the iPhone 16 came out as the rumour mill suggests it has some interesting features but might have to replace my phone before that is released.
I hope Apple introduce a feature (if they haven't already) found on the Pixel 7 where the phone will screen your calls. Apparently this feature puts off many scammers according to one owner of the Pixel phone.

Edited to change iPhone 17 to iPhone 16.
