Nationwide rebranding

Found it a bit strange considering they spent a lot of effort building up that whole building society part of their brand image, trying to differentiate themselves from "regular banks".
Can't say I particularly cared for it anyway though, as the end consumer it makes no practical difference to me whether they want to brand themselves as a Bank, Building Society, or Mr. Bozo's Financial Funhouse.
So far as I'm concerned Nationwide fulfils the same function as any other bank/bank-like business out there these days and the products they have on offer are the single biggest factor in deciding whether or not to bank with them. But for what it's worth I did prefer the previous design purely because it was more distinctive and unique. I've got more than enough similar looking apps already.Moo…0 -

Although hopefully the new app does not crash as often as the old one had started to do.That's all that matters ultimately, I tried their current account last year to get the switch bonus but I couldn't use them for my main current account as their app is bad. I may use them for savings if they had a good rate as the app doesn't matter so much then. The message they are trying to send does seem very muddled though, we do things differently but our slogan now mentions bank and and our branding looks just like NatWest.0 -
Thanks to this thread, I will always see PacMan from now on.2

To me it looks like a wide, greedy mouth just waiting to gobble up the house........
Takeover looming...?1 -
I saw the notice in the app before about how it was going to look a bit different, and I was hoping that meant they were coming out with a new app since the current app is kind of limited. What a disappointment to find out not only is it just a branding update, but I can't even say I like the new logo all that much lol.

I imagine probably because they knew the majority of members would hate it and question the waste of member's money on such a pointless exercise.I wonder if Nationwide know the rest of the Nation have concerns over the cost of living right now?6

"Our updated logo draws on our heritage but is simpler and more modern. We wanted something that shows us as an organisation that supports people throughout their lives. We think a rising sun behind a home does that."

Can you say what is lacking in the app? It seems to work pretty well to me, but I am not a very demanding customer and have not used that many other banking apps .
My only gripe is that in the last 3 months it has refused to open a few times, and had to reboot the phone to get it to work again.1
