Sorry to hear you lost your dad so young. So sad about your mum, bless her, such a shame she doesn’t recognise you. The people I know around my age who still have parents alive seem to be experiencing similar problems to you sadly.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5

I attended a memorial service yesterday for a very dear elderly relative who died in her 90s. She worked hard all her life and her own and extended family was very much at the centre of it. Back in the day there were huge parties hosted at her home, and she would spend weeks preparing the spread. She also constantly had relatives staying with her for extended periods rather than book hotels in London and she loved their company.
Very many people benefited from her kindness and generosity, and only a fraction were there for her memorial service (in part because most of her generation had passed and some of the few remaining are too frail to travel even with assistance). I like to think that those of us that did make the effort were her nearest and dearest. No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.7 -
Still saddened to think I wasn't able to be at my mom's memorial. Trying to reconcile the reasons for this without having simmering anger at my brother who made my attendance impossible. I expect I will get really upset when the farm sells and also when we hit the first anniversary of her dying which comes a couple of days after my birthday. Maybe you could take a few days away for those dates? Perhaps somewhere your mum would have enjoyed hearing about.Brie said:Still saddened to think I wasn't able to be at my mom's memorial. @Brie - sorry to hear your troubles but you need to put DB to the back of your mind, life is just too short! Browsing a local chazzer this lunchtime I found the perfect book for your brother. I had been tempted to buy it as a peace offering for what can only be described as the boil on the butt of my own family, but resisted....Floss said:

Returned yesterday from a lovely week away with OH in Devon .
I really do love being by the seaside. This just makes me want to retire to the seaside even more.
Everyday was a pleasure last week
Sunday - Had a good walk around the place we were staying in. Ventured into some charity shops and found a few bargains for both of us.
Monday - Visited two garden centres.
Tuesday - My favourite visit. The Donkey Sanctuary - So peaceful. The donkeys are so well cared for and look so happy. I also visited the 2 donkeys that I sponsor.
Wednesday - Visited a local museum
Thursday - We had a game of bowling - usually my OH wins , but I managed to win by 2 points. Forgotten how much fun was .
Friday - Needed a few things from the town. Had a quick sandwich. Then packing for return journey home the next day.
Had a meal in the restaurant.
Saturday - Long journey home. Did a bit of unpacking.
Sunday - Need to collect the cat from the cattery. We need to prepare for a very ' vocal ' few days from the cat. This is to remind us he does like the cattery. Home comforts are his thing.
I will pop a wash on too
Sunny weather at the moment.

Had a busy week socially - last Saturday I met a friend that I met working at a local bank service centre a few years back. We met at a pub and had a glass of wine and some cheesy chips, set the world to rights and discussed zombie movies (as you do). Last Monday I met 2 team mates from my last job at a food bank for a cuppa and to meet the one's lovely dog.
And on Thursday 2 facebook friends and I met at a pub with our OHs to have a meal and a nice very long chat. I thought we might be there for a couple of hours max but having arrived at about 7 we didn't leave until we were the last customers at about 11!!! The one FB friend lives nearby and we meet up regularly but the other I've only met once or twice in the 15+ years I've known her. Fascinating person, we had lots in common as did our OHs too. It was a really nice evening. Been chilling ever since but need to deal with my art desk in order to finish a painting before the paper goes off. (never realised this could happen until recently which is why I can't leave a watercolour too long between starting and finishing)I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. So today cat collected.
Put some washing out, glad to report no rain today. Clothes on airer/airers to carry on drying.
Listed a few items on the v.
Had to buy some shampoo from the big river shop. I use Attitude leaves shampoo. Very natural and rates good in the yuka app. Expensive at £10.80 a. Bottle, but used my shopping panel survey voucher of 95 p. So total was £9.85. This is only the second bottle I have bought this year.
I also bought a few bits from that site beginning with t . Earned back enough credit to pay for what I needed, so a free spend.
It is so nice to meet up for a catch up with friends.
Just.about to have tea. Then a shower and hair wash. We will watch ' Trigger Point ' .
Have a good evening.
