    Morning all,

MIA again this week, between work, parents and last minute prep I've not had a minute to myself.  Thankfully I can say I've stayed on plan - much to my amazement! I usually reach for the wine or something synful at the first sign of stress but there's a little angel on my shoulder keeping me on track so far. Let's hope she keeps the naughty one away!

I thought I'd get a headstart on the veg shopping last night but the shelves in my local Lidl were almost bare!  Couldn't quite believe it but the sprouts, carrots and potatoes are bought. Mum is insisting she still does her shop on Saturday morning so will pick up everything else then - though in all honesty not looking forward to it! It will be soooo busy. I also need to work out when to take the turkey crown out to defrost in time!

    Today's food:
B - baked oats (HEB), raspberries, f/f Greek yoghurt
    L - veggie omelette, pickles
D - fish, chips, salad - 4 syns for breadcrumbs and 2 for tartare sauce

Still to read back but hope you are all well!  Have a good day!
  • @Mrsporridge , as my consultant keeps saying  - its not easy - and it really isnt at this time of year

The madness is, Im not one that would normally reach for the sweeties and treats, but this week, I know its because Im tired, Im scunnard with eating flipping yoghurt and just not having the time nor inclination to prepare healthy snacks. Im still on plan for meals - ie the evening meal , but lunch? Nope. And I dont do breakfast. And of course guess where the chipolatas for the Christmas dinners are? In the Bain Marie right at the entrance of the kitchen and I just pop one into my mouth as I pass, and I pass hundreds of times lol

Ok so maybe I pop about 6 or 8 in.

But then theres the box of open biscuits on the sideboard next to the kitchen door, yep they magically jump out and into my mouth

So what Ive done is take them away. Said to mum, they are yours, you buy them, you want them, keep them in your sitting room - temptation is removed

Actually it is her that brings this stuff into the house, I dont buy as part of the weekly shop. Shes the woman who will buy a couple of tubs of roses or such at halloween - in case we get trick or treaters - we live five miles out of town , deep country, no kids, no street lights, we have never in 20 years had a trick or treater!!! She uses it as an excuse to treat herself. So this year I have made her a hamper of all the treats she likes as part of her Christmas pressie and she can keep the lot in her living room. That way if I do want something, I have to go into her room and to me that will feel like stealing, or ask her for something which I would never do so I wont be going mad over Christmas :)

@coxy11, sorry to hear you are feeling rough. Beige food  - yuck. Dont get me wrong, I like a bit of beige , but my poor tummy doesn't , find now pastry really makes me windy , as does bread. All the foods I used to eat with abandon - sigh. Think to myself, ah sod it, a wee treat, and suffer!!! lol

@jellybaby, your  wee angel hasn't a twin by chance? I think some of us could be doing with a bit of help :)
Im away today to get the veg and the last bits ( must remember a lemon, always forget the lemon)  Im taking my boned and rolled Turkey out on Saturday , a breast you should be fine to take out Sunday morning,- 24 hrs will be plenty of time indoors.  I defrost in the garage, its ruddy cold in there so I need to give it loads of time

@bubbs, Im another lover of figs and dates but I stopped buying them long time back as it was just me who ate them

Shoot, just see the time, catch up later xx

    Hi all,

Full of cold here but battling on as not bad enough to be off and this is only my 4th week!! Bus was lovely and empty this morning as the schools have broken up yay!

I had a packed lunch of 2 satsumas, an apple, cherry tomatoes, cheese portion and packet of French fries. This is becoming a bit of a norm but suits me to have a smorgasbord of picky bits. At least most of it is speed.

Popped to Sainsbobs at lunchtime to get green beans, mange tout and mini sweetcorn as we are having sweet chilli chicken, rice and veg tonight.

I love fresh figs @bubbs – especially with feta in a salad which @joedenise got me hooked on during the summer!!

Well done on staying on track @Jellybaby – not easy at this time of year. Ms Moanalot opened the Heroes tub earlier so I had a Wispa but hoping that’s it for today.

Good idea to gift your Mum the goodies to keep in her own space @Longwalker. My 3 children have goodies but they will no hopefully squirrel them away in their rooms!

Well done everyone who's hanging on in there. It's a struggle but we're worth it!  We all need one of @Jellybaby 's angels. 😇👍

I was out with DD1 for her birthday yesterday. We only stopped for coffee (as they were having Chinese in the evening) so I just nibbled a corner of chocolate brownie to show willing.

I'd put out a box of Quality Street on the sofa table and DH just had to open it! I ate 3, just because... 🤔

Other than that I've stayed on plan.

I'm full of cold too @Coxy11 but determined to push on. I've batch cooked swede and carrot mash and oven chips from the veg I've bought so far. All I need to do today is finish my shopping list for tomorrow and a bit of a timetable to make sure I remember to get the gammon and turkey defrosted in plenty of time.

    Today's plan -
B- HEB toast, HEA milk for drinks, fried egg and bacon (P), mushrooms and tomatoes (S)
    L- LO casserole (F, S), pickled cabbage (S)
    D- sausage casserole (P, F, S), pasta (F)
    Syns (planned 😉) - Aldi sausages 1

I'm still hanging in there by a thread.  Again today I've been off plan with picking lots of naughty bits.  I started off OK with porridge and banana then had a toasted teacake and butter when I was out.  Tea was gammon with SW wedges and scrambled egg.  Then I had a mince pie with cream.  I am going to WI tomorrow and also next Friday - no break at our group.  We are having a bit of a party with tasters and Christmas jumpers so will be nice - I didn't have time to make anything, but I bought a punnet of grapes to take with me.  Meeting is at 9am, so I won't have breakfast, just the tasters.

We then need to go out later to pick DS up from the train station.  So looking forward to seeing him.  He's with us for a week.
