Ooh lovely to see the Manics!

Hope the rattle cough goes soon, glad you're feeling better. I think a lot of hayfever is a kicking in at the moment with all the blossom etc, so may be extending symptoms
Great price for the Manics!

Great bargain on the tickets. Sorry to hear you’ve not been feeling well, hopefully you’ll be back to full health soon.

Good price for manics. I've been mildly outraged by the price of various gig tickets, not a cheap night out any more.

Thanks all - I'm glad it's not just me who's been feeling outraged about gig prices recently - I would fully accept and pay £50 - £75 a ticket for a "big artist" depending on band and venue - but in a lot of cases the starting point now seems to be nudging three figures, and by the time that's for two of you, plus travel etc, even without accounting for food and drink, that makes a massive hole in the budget. I'll certainly be keeping my eyes on the RAH's prices though.
The cough is still present but miles better than yesterday which is good, hopefully the dreaded lurgy is finally on the run!
Had my first less than good experience on Olio last night - requested a bag of stir fry veg from someone, with their location shown as being literally a few hundred yards up the road from us. Excellent. She replied to confirm but then gave me a location on the other side of town…hmmm, OK, not ideal, but we'd be collecting on the way home so not too much of an issue. we agreed a collection just before 7pm. MrEH got delayed by a few minutes leaving work, so I messaged her to say sorry, running slightly late, I'd be with her before 7.15pm if that was still OK. Yes, not a problem she said. I got there at 7.10pm to find that she wasn't at home - her daughter answered the phone and was a bit vague about when she would be back, just saying "Oh she should be here shortly" - so i waited until 7.20pm then left and messaged to say that I wasn't able to wait any longer. Got a message back a few minutes later saying "Oh, have you gone?" - well, yes, not having any idea how much longer I might need to stand there, I had! No animosity as such, and she did eventually apologise, but the whole thing felt like a bit of a fiasco - I wasn't quite sure why on earth if she wasn't going to be there she couldn't just get the daughter to give me the item, but there you go! I notice that the stir fry veg is still on there today - lord knows what state it's in allowing it was BB 1/3! Anyway, mental note made to not request anything from her in the future.
Thankfully I had enough veg to still be able to make the planned stir fry, and very tasty it was too. Opted for a super simple seasoning of just sesame oil, dark and light soy, and a splash of rice wine vinegar and it was really nice, I'll repeat that as an option again! Tonight will be a rice bowl with halloumi and veg, I have chickpeas from the freezer and might make a quick coleslaw to go with it too I think. Hoping for Lil's 15% off Halloumi to pop up again fairly soon as I've only got one block left after tonight and I do resent paying full price!

If you have energy to do so, do send a friendly email to olio saying what happened as they really dislike unreliable people putting others off and contributing to waste

That sounds like a rather frustrating Olio situation!
Glad you're feeling better though :)

Oh and gig fees are ludicrous. I think I've paid £15 to see Mr Cheery play before now 😂😂 Only once mind 😂😂
But I confess that I have so many musician friends that I spend a lot of time seeing live music in various forms, so it tends to not be something I seek out outside of that. I don't think I've seen a famous band, other than at a festival maybe, since we went to a Hillsborough benefit concert in Liverpool in about 1998 😬 can't even remember who played - Dodgy, Beautiful South, possibly even the Manics actually, I'm sure I've seen them somewhere and I don't think it was an individual gig 🤔 Very pleased to see they're still going!

Ha, a trip down memory lane, thank you!
Yes, Manics, Stereophonic, Space, and some others I don't remember at all. And 1997, not 1998.

Oh what a brilliant gig to have attended Cheery - fantastic!
PiP - that's actually not a bad shout. There was a bit of me trying to decide whether I was being unreasonable having only waited the 5 minutes past the latest time I had confirmed I would be there - but quite honestly I don't think I was - at no stage did she even hint that she might not be there, and having already gone substantially further away from our standard route home, I really didn't feel inclined to hang about any longer! I still can't quite understand why she didn't just get the daughter to give me the veg!
