I still use a knife that my mother used to take out and use for picnics. It's at least 50 years old and well travelled for a humble kitchen knife.

I have a lovely set of fancy knives, given by a great aunt for my first wedding, almost 51 years ago. We also have Christmas decorations dating back to the 1950's & 60s, from DH's grandmother, and just this weekend DFIL gave me some sheet music that had belonged to his father & grandfather & dates back to 1940s.

I have my mums Kenwood mixer, the liquidiser doesn’t work any more but it still mixes ok. It did break about 15 years ago but a nice chap managed to get the old girl going again.

I'm impressed. I have my grandmother's ironing board but that's all other than some cups.
Tbf my dad still uses my mum's food processor.

LOVING these - keep them coming people! I realised last night that I have an entire collection of basins, plus my big mixing bowl that all came from other people somewhere along the line and are an assortment of ages - in some cases because they were being thrown out to be replaced with something newer, but I could see the value in them still.
Small spend today as I have parked near to the office which meant a small purchase in Al's was needed - turns out that (for Chinese New Year I assume) they are doing different flavours in their straight to wok noodles - I've picked up a garlic pack for a bit of change. I'm assuming that MrEH might have bought his bananas for the remainder of the week this morning as well.
Rice bowls for tea tonight as it's an eat separately night - rugby training for himself. I'll use brown for mine - I prefer it to white but he's really not a fan so I rarely get to eat it! Going to do standard couscous toppings with it - mushrooms, chickpeas, halloumi & toasted seeds. I think I'll probably use one of the chinese dressing type things we have for a drizzle over the top - we've a sweet soy which is rather tasty!
Other than that on an MSE front banks are just doing their thing for the middle of the month - although the S&S ISA has jumped up again which is nice - 6.68% gain there now although obviously that's always subject to change!

They were bargain priced from one of the stalls at the Good Food Show a couple of years ago - the Lee Kum Kee people. They used to do various different options of goody bags with various bits in for £3/£5 or thereabouts, and they were usually a decent bargain so we always bought one at least. we're still working through the various bits - you can get their stuff in supermarkets but obviously not for the bargain price!

there is 1 glass left from a set that my mum used when she was a child in about 1940. It belonged to her aunty and mum inherited the contents of aunty's house. We don't regularly use the glass but occasionally I'll pour myself a nice glass of lemonade and raise the glass to mum and my great aunty.
my dad still uses on a daily basis the green Beryl crockery that mum and dad had from goodness knows how long ago. There are a couple of dinner plates, bowls, side plates and a cup and saucer left so it suits him very well. He's probably eaten his dinner from those plates for 70+ years. Unless it's like Trigger's broom and it's been broken and been replaced with more of the same 🙃
thank you for the info on your grocery spending. You are very resourceful with your shopping and meal planning which makes such a difference. I can't believe how much money and food I used to waste when I wandered around the supermarket without a meal plan or a shopping list. I find it so much easier to know what is on the plan for dinner. I've been doing a freezer inventory at the start of each month and that is making such a difference to meal planning.4 -
Oh Blackcats how lovely is that! Does he ever think about how long it's been I wonder? It shocked me when I realised that we'd been using our engagement present crockery for as long as we have, and that's not quite 30 years yet - although I rather suspect that's not bad for a set from T's!
It's not just the money you potentially waste if you shop without a list, I've found - it's the time too, as you are trying to work out what you need as you go, while also trying to remember what you have! Freezer inventory at the start of the month is a great idea - I might nick that!
Small wins - the c0-0p app has just given me 25p off my next shop in their valentines giveaway, and I also have a 20p off milk there for this week, so that establishes that we may as well get MrEH's milk there on Friday morning!
Got my notice of tax coding for the new tax year and HURRAH HMRC have finally accepted that I'm not likely to be earning mahoosive amounts in savings interest any time soon!
