Morning all - sun is shining here which is just lovely, but it's also annoyingly chilly. I mean I know I'm being overly demanding wanting nice weather AND warmer temperatures, but really!
Having chased up the refund of the 66p (lol!) taken from my bank account in error by the publishers of Good Food magazine, and it becoming rapidly apparent that they never actually intended to do anything about returning it at all in spite of them having taken it a full week after they assured me that no further payments would be taken, I decided that there was a principle at stake yesterday and went directly to the bank instead to claim under the DD guarantee. Petty - absolutely. Justified? I think so! Anyway my 66p is back, and the bank have confirmed that they now take the failure to stick by the guarantee up with the supplier.
Cashed out £10 worth of points from ipsos yesterday into a voucher which will cover my cloud storage for phone backup for a while. Already got 296 points there again too after a long (tedious!) survey! Also got stuck in with some prolific stuff again for the first time in a while - now at £2.95 payable/ £4.35 pending there. I really need to make my March focus getting back into the habit of both those things I think - often boring, but frequently lucrative!
Had to option of heading along to a "Beer Night" at a local to work venue tonight - but we've agreed that actually just heading back home probably suits us both best. Neither of us are feeling on top of our game at the moment, and probably the several beers we'd end up having there isn't the greatest of ideas! I may call in at the pub and have a pint while waiting for MrEH this evening - we'll see. Currently pencilled in to meet up with a pal tomorrow but she may yet have to cancel - makes little odds to me in terms of just having an unexpectedly free day though so I can go with what works for her.

Definitely justified! If they can't respect the DD guarantee they need their wrists slapped, whether it's 66p or £66.

Not their money to take! - definately correct reasoning - glad the bank will chase them up on their failure!

Too many of us in the past have thought life was too short to chase them up that they now take liberties convinced they will get away with it. I sometimes wonder if the long times we have to hang on the phone is nothing to do with how busy they are but them assuming most of us will hang up if they keep us waiting long enough. This weeks conspiracy theory!

Thanks all - I have to say, from the reaction from the magazine people, I do slightly suspect that they might do this a lot, on the basis that most folk will say "ah it's only pennies" and let it go. Had I ben able to cancel the DD when I cancelled the subscription I would have done, but because the original payment went on a bank card (it was a 5 issue for £5 thing) the DD hadn't ever been taken previously, and so didn't show in my banking to cancel!

Think of how much extra they make over the years with all these little 66p’s!!

Quite right reclaiming your 66p, it is the principle of the thing! And that's a quarter of a pint in a Spoons with a camra voucher!

It absolutely is the principle - the chap at Nationwide agreed with it!
Well it’s been a murky old weekend here so far and not showing much sign of changing today, even though it was originally forecast to be a lovely day. At least it isn’t forecast to actually rain, although allowing for how misty it looks, I suspect it may as well do!
MSE Stuff:
- Main shopping done yesterday in Al’s - but we need to do a top up today in T’s for some bits we couldn’t get there. I also want to get into Lil’s to make use of that Halloumi 15% off coupon too.
- Agile prices are fairly rubbish again today - not a surprise with everything going on in the world but..! Just discussed opting to make a loaf for lunches for the first part of the week rather than rolls, then we’ll see how things are for MrEH to make rolls on Tuesday.
- Friday was a wee but spendy but planned and budgeted - travel was bus (personal spends) and tube (my monthly £10 Oyster top up), I bought lunch for my pal as it was her birthday weekend and nobody buys their own lunch in that circumstance! 😁 Also the suggested £6 donation to the museum (RAF Museum at Hendon - free admission and always a nice place to wander.
- Planned takeaway in the evening on Friday too but we opted for a far cheaper option than normal and it was really tasty too, we both agreed we would happily do the same again so that was a win.
- I have been round some random bank accounts and transferred oddments of money that were just sitting doing nothing back to a central point and then on to my C@h00t ☀️ny day saver - that is paying good interest so I’m trying to remember to treat it as a sort of very flexible personal regular saver and transfer odds and ends to it.
- spotted the offer of the increased interest bonus on the Mark-us ISA the other day too and did that, plus also renewed the other account bonuses while I was there to keep them up to date.Gardening stuff planned for today - more work on the new table, plus seeds to be sown, we should probably get our chillies underway and may as well also get the peas in too. Might also have to spend some time admiring the rhubarb which seems to be doubling in size daily!
