Have you grown winter savoury before, @EH? If not, I think you will find it is a very useful addition to your herb bed. It needs little more attention than an annual hair cut & dries really well. I always have a jar of it in the pantry. It is sort of like a cross between thyme & rosemary in flavour, I always think. Useful in all sorts of dishes. We particularly like it in chunky home made burgers. And it's easy to grow, so what's not to like?

Hey all - thanks for dropping by! Completely agree about not paying for "not quite right" bras - well, anything in fact! The offending items have now been returned and I have the email assuring me that my refund is on its way back to me so I will be keeping a close eye out for that to land.
Foxgloves - yes, we had a winter savoury in our little patch of garden in front of the flat, it's so versatile isn't it! Was definitely always something I wanted to ensure that we got again so I was very pleased to spot it at the nursery - it's not always one that you see is it! I have to say I've never worried about drying it and always just used it fresh - delicious with chicken! SH that's interesting about the radishes - I'm intending to pull them all for eating, so I may not get to see the flowers! Might have to leave a couple
We had a lovely few days in Dundee - catching up with lots of great friends and (not related to the reason we were there) also one of my absolute best pals and her adorable 4 legged sidekick - let's just call him "Haggis" shall we?! Fabulous to see them both - we walked on the beach and chatted a LOT!
MSE Stuff:
- Another lovely friend qualifies for free breakfasts for up to 4 people when staying at a hotel in the chain we were in - and kindly invited us to take advantage of that too, so that was a really good saving.
- Significant delays on the way back (we arrived back into London well over 2 hours later than planned) means Delay/Repay kicked in, so free travel back. I've already claimed it and had the confirmation that we'll be refunded 100%.
- The group sitting across the aisle from us on the train came back from the on-train cafe with several packs of snacks part way through their journey, and left a couple of packs untouched on the table when they left. I'll leave you to guess where those are now!
- All food while up there was paid from budgeted funds, beer and travel came from personal spends.
- we have a £100 underspend from what we budgeted for spending which will increase by £63 once the train ticket refund lands - that will now get transferred to the holiday account.
- we have both been paid, and I have finally got the message across that yes, my payslip IS required before paying me to ensure that the correct amount is paid!
- I paid the odd pounds and pence off the mortgage using joint account surplus - leaving us with an end of month balance at £108,400
- Another £100 OP sent to the mortgage this morning. Monthly payment has also landed, but interest not yet applied.
- Money shuffle done for start of month, although I do still need to send the £50 across to my small personal reg saver.
We have done a bit of a budget run-through for Holiday purposes - as far as I can see we will have £200 to take from the grocery account, and the same to take from the joint fun account, so once those are added to what is already sitting in the Holiday account we should be covered for our costs for food, drink and travel, with luck. Any shortfall will simply come from personal spends though.
The next few weeks will be mostly about getting ready for our Hebrides trip, combined with plenty of garden stuff, and the first airshow-type bits of the season for me, too. Thoroughly looking forward to all of the above! we also have a meet-up with a pal in London on Monday as well - to visit a few pubs, almost certainly eat pizza, and put the world to rights!
