Ooh yes Vix Wild Card is nice - as is Hackney brewery just over the road, and the very lovely Beerblefish just along the way a bit! (And yes - Hackney brewery is no longer in Hackney!)Oh dear Greying - not surprised he feels miserable! MrEH gets badly blocked sinuses whenever he gets a cold - but has found things much improved since pretty much cutting dairy entirely at the first sign of a sniffle, thank goodness.PiP I have indeed done very little today - partly due to a suspicion that it might indeed help with chasing the lurgy away, partly as I had very little energy anyway!Been out to vote - turns out one of our neighbours is a polling clerk, although neither of us can work out which neighbour as we recognised the face but couldn’t match it to a house number! 😂
Finally got round to buying my second set of wellies - I trod on a nail in the alley at the back of the house a few weeks ago and while it may not have punched all the way through, I’d sooner not discover that it did when calf deep in seawater in the Hebrides so I am pushing the boat out and buying a second pair for holiday use. Annoyingly couldn’t get the same ones I already had though as they are discontinued - have gone for a FItFl0p pair with free returns in case they don’t fit so we’ll see how those feel. One other spend which was realising the cheapest place to buy my micellar water cleanser is the Big River site so have ordered that - should arrive tomorrow.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Yes - I knew there was something I’d meant to go back and comment on - thanks for the reminder Watty! BB - massive round of applause to your eldest for this - the pressure of just feeling you have to vote for the “fashionable” party of the time is huge - and I remember even when I was at school really noticing that having come from a household where politics might well be discussed, but party politics was not, that it often seems to be the most strongly party political who can be the most forceful in trying to shame others that “their way is right, you’re a bad person if you don’t agree”. And it’s easy to feel bullied into making a choice “to fit in” - which isn’t a good reason for anyone to vote for a particular candidate IMO! Well done for your eldest for taking the time to step back and align candidates with their own opinions and standpoints. Good practice ahead of the upcoming general election, too!Baileys_Babe said:One of the things I like best about having a postal vote is you know in advance who is standing and you have plenty of time to research the candidates and parties. Which is something my eldest took advantage of before casting their first ever vote.Vix I have a feeling you’re right - I think Wildcard used to be in a little unit across the other side of Walthamstow - they are part of the “Blackhorse beer mile” these days and are doing really well! Still on an industrial estate - or rather one of a network of estates - though! We’re having a proper gloomy weather day here - it started raining not long after we got back from a walk this morning and hasn’t stopped since as far as I have noticed. Very glad that I got washing up to date in the lovely weather on Monday as my washing machine has seen no use today - at this time of year I’m not drying inside if I can help it! The other change today is a drop in temperature a bit - no heating all day yesterday, but it was on first thing again this morning - although seemingly not for long as we’ve only used 11.25kWh of gas today and that includes a shower each and some washing up.Pushed Jaws round downstairs earlier, and then steam mopped right through as well - my goodness my kitchen floor looks much improved! I knew it had been a while since I last did it, but I needed to use both floor pads as the first was grim by the time I was half way round! 😝 Just got the front room still to Jaws but that will need to wait until MrEH is done in there. (He’s still working in the house at the moment due to computer issues - so much for buying a house with an actual home-office!)
Shopping is also done - called in at c0-0p this morning as we had member offers which were useful - so grabbed MrEH’s paper, a loaf of YS’d bread and a pack of reduced priced snacks (mango chutney lentil curls - I had a pack the other week and they were lush!) but then when we got to the till the snacks went through at the original price, and then they tried to insist that we couldn’t even scan the membership card to get those offers as well as MrEH had already put through the subscriber voucher for his paper… 🤦🏻♀️ The Manager was insisting that we couldn’t use both, we pointed out that we always had in the past so had that just changed and she sort of half-heartedly mumbled “well, it must have done” - but did sort it out for us as well, albeit with very bad grace. She ended up undercharging us by 10p but by that stage I felt that was the least we were due for having stood there for 10 minutes trying to get it sorted! Needless to say having checked since with their social media team nothing has changed, we think it must have been a glitch through the till because of the price change on the lentil snacks. Anyway that ended up being an 86p spend. Then Lil’s for the main shop. Nothing out of the ordinary although I did spot YS’d scones, so nabbed a pack of those (we still have clotted cream in the fridge!) I also had a coupon for 40p off their rather tasty halloumi fries so got a pack of those and a pack of the southern friend chicken pops to go as part of a picky tea at some stage over the weekend. POTW yielded oranges, avocados and grapes - although nothing on there is ever seemingly “cheap” these days, is it! If the avocados actually ripen they’ll be decent value - but will they, that’s the question! £29.58 spent there anyway, so a fraction over £30 for the week so far - there will be more odds and ends to get yet mind.
We have a garden list ready for tomorrow - with luck it will have stopped raining by then - and no other plans for tomorrow at all so “potter around” is roughly the idea. I’d like to get the tomatoes sorted out ideally as they can probably go to their grow bags. Also definitely want to get that bean frame built - and try to track down some borlotti bean seeds as mentioned before!Well that’s about all from me - the lurgy feels as though it is on the run, thankfully. I’m still coughing today but blowing my nose a fraction of the amount I was yesterday, and generally feeling a lot more lively as well, so that’s good! Here’s hoping that tomorrow sees it well and truly on the way out!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Glad you're on the mend.
Good for you standing your ground with Coop. They had glitchy computer system issues a while ago with not recognising members price and members vouchers, but at least the employees I dealt with were nice about it.
Would it help the avocados to stick a banananana in with them? They ripen everything else including each other!5 -
Glad to read you’re on the mend. Hope you get the gardening done. We’re about to start project stream (if Daisy digger plays ball and decides she’s not going to conk out). Just waiting for OHs next days off.LTotal Debt Dec 07 £59875.83 Overdrafts £2900,New Debt Figure ZERO !!!!!!:j 08/06/2013

Glad you are beginning to feel better. Well done on standing your ground with coop. At our local store it feels like the assistants can't believe that people would bother about being charged the right price. I used to be a bit embarrassed pointing out that I was being over-charged but now I'm much more comfortable making sure the savings stay in my purse, not least because I'm holding myself accountable via the grocery challenge.6
