Shell Energy > Octopus

Unfortunately I have no idea why they delayed, although at the time Martin raised this idea they were abroad on holiday, so it was only after hearing it on a later show that they became aware of the possibility, and contacted me. I made them aware that it could be pulled and they then acted quickly.
Only going on what they told me. I had an e mail from Octopus on the 1st telling me they had signed up and would become customers on the 5th, and my friend also told me the same on the 1st.
Re-reading what was said today, it looks like it was cancelled by Octopus but they had not been told and only found out when they rang to arrange for a smart meter.......
" I can understand putting a block on Shell customers switching but we got notified after we had already been accepted and T&Cs signed. We have an account number and DD was due to start today. We did the switch paperwork on the 29th Nov. They are saying that as of 1st Dec no Shell energy customers will be accepted to switch. Our contract from them was signed off on the 1st Dec. "Looks like the DD was probably not taken today, just scheduled0 -

They are not very happy as first DD already taken.
Will alert them to check their final bill from Shell.
I referred a shell customer and they signed up on 29/11. On my referrals it's says their join date is 29/11 and under Payment Status it says "switch in progress - 1 January 1970"
Their first DD hasn't been taken yet
Friend contacted me and I sent referral code on the 28th and they said they would apply soon. I then made them aware of the possibility of it being pulled, and they applied on the 29th and let me know they had done so. Seems there was a delay in it going through at the Octopus end.0 -

If your friend can prove they applied before 1/12 it might be worth them putting a complaint in to Octopus to get the £50 referral for you both0 -
Yes, I think they plan to lodge a complaint.0

Well I got my £50 credited today. As someone said earlier it coincided with my first DD appearing on my account.
Just need to get Shell E on board with final bill and refunding my credit balance now.0 -
We started the change from Shell to Octopus on Nov 29th using the friend referral. We will be paying our first Flexible Octopus DD tomorrow, Dec 13th.
Last week they sent an email saying about the Loyal Octopus 12M Fixed tariff. Would we be able to change at this late stage without a penalty and would we actually be a loyal customer having only just joined?0 -
I switched on 15/11 and as mentioned got my £50 referral bonus. Still no sign of final bill from Shell, I’ve chased up once but how long should you wait before you escalate?
Made me think of it when I got a letter (yes through the post) from Shell today telling me my tariff would be rising from Jan 1st due to price cap increase!0 -

Estimate I will be in credit at least £200.I automatically got the £30 because they’ve taken too long which is all well and good but I would like my £200 ish.0 -
Did you open a complaint up at both suppliers?0
