Thks. Do you happen to know if they have the standard variable price cap tariff for gas to switch to (same as I’m currently on with Shell) or only fixed and other different tariffs?bristolleedsfan said:
Gas only need to contact Octopus directly giving friends Octopus account number, phone operators have been known not to know Octopus do gas only switches, I tend to suggest to people communicate with Octopus by direct twitter message or last resort by email.tg99 said:Re the refer a friend, do Octopus do gas only tariffs to switch to? From what I can see on their website it’s either dual fuel or Elec only so don’t think I’ll be able to do the refer a friend.Enter your postcode and scroll down. Do not press the Quote button.1 -
If the deleted post was from someone interested in Octopus's smart tariffs, they'll find a lot of interesting information at https://energy-stats.uk/DougMLancs said:Against the terms of use for this forum I’m afraid.N. I switched gas only to the Octopus SVT a while ago with no problems, IIRC I had to phone.

Just to return to this, I have switched using a friend’s code so that’s all good.
Interestingly I was about £250 in credit with Shell but despite using the annual usage figures I just got from Shell for Octopus to estimate my bill my monthly payment is actually less than before obviously without the credit being taken into account.0 -
Interestingly got a mail from Shell today telling me the takeover by Octopus was going through, with a comment saying no point in switching early. Obviously a generic mail so I’m not taking it personally 😀 so hopefully my £50 is still safe0

The gist of it was that if you did switch there might be unspecified "issues" (probably similar the the ones some people had when caught mid-switch in previous involuntary transfers). I guess they want to keep things simple.

I've just read the purchase has gone through.
So maybe the £50 will stop now.
I switched as soon as I heard the news in the summer and used the link provided by son0 -
Have you read the thread near the top of the Energy forum about Shell having overcharged all customers who are switching on their final bill? (Shell Energy - final bill overcharge warning). They have recalculated the final bills back to September and charged the (higher) pre 1st October rates. This is incorrect. If you switched in October or November it’s likely you have been overcharged. If you read the thread, you may need to raise a complaint to get a refund.RedImp_2 said:Just to return to this, I have switched using a friend’s code so that’s all good.

Well I’m still awaiting a final bill.
I’m a bit worried I might have fallen into a black hole. Even though switch went through before the takeover was confirmed, no sign of a final bill from Shell (over £200 in credit last bill).
I’ve paid my 1st DD to Octopus so the new account is up and running but no sign of the £50 switching credit either.0
