You will be transferred across to Octopus on the same contract terms that you are on now. Selling a business does not lead to a break in your existing contract. Octopus might offer you a better tariff. If you are happy to change to it, this would be deemed to be a mutual variation of contract.welsh_freelance said:The day before the announcement Shell is going over to Octopus, I signed a fixed term deal with Shell. I am still within the limit limit for cancelling. Should I do so, or will I be able to switch once Octopus takes over?
This deal still has some hurdles to cross: it still needs Regulatory approval. If deemed to be anti-competitive it could still fail.0 -
How long before Octopus changes their T&Cs so that they won't pay a referral fee for customers coming from Shell?0

No idea. Which is why people should jump now before that has any chance of happening, if they are able to.MeteredOut said:How long before Octopus changes their T&Cs so that they won't pay a referral fee for customers coming from Shell?0 -

Not to hammer this home as I didn't see the reply from you but at this stage Octopus are honouring energy switches from Shell to theirselves with the switch reward money.RedImp_2 said:
Not a case of switching, they’re buying Shell EnergyMultiFuelBurner said:Octopus are one of the top if not the top.energy supplier. Don't forget switch early and earn some referral money.
Smart meters will work as they have done before.
I expect they have to until the deal to buy is done and dusted but that window will probably close soon.0 -
Re the refer a friend, do Octopus do gas only tariffs to switch to? From what I can see on their website it’s either dual fuel or Elec only so don’t think I’ll be able to do the refer a friend.0

Gas only need to contact Octopus directly giving friends Octopus account number, phone operators have been known not to know Octopus do gas only switches, I tend to suggest to people communicate with Octopus by direct twitter message or last resort by email.tg99 said:Re the refer a friend, do Octopus do gas only tariffs to switch to? Thks. Do you happen to know if they have the standard variable price cap tariff for gas to switch to (same as I’m currently on with Shell) or only fixed and other different tariffs?bristolleedsfan said:

Can go on any gas tariff when a customer fixed/tracker ( smart meter) /flexible, likely to start off on standard variable price cap tariff/flexible tariff that is all is offered on quote page to people signing up to switch.tg99 said:
