  • No Octo-notification here yet so it looks like they're still reaching different accounts at slightly different times as they did last year. Have been able to opt-in manually though but only after updating the Octo-app twice. 

    There's also now an official Octo-channel thing on the Whatsapp app for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, which sends you a Whatsapp message when saving sessions are announced. Perhaps a more consistent way of quickly getting the notification to everyone at once as the emails tend to come out slowly.
    I suspect emailing nearly 6 million customers could take quite some time. Best part being if they do email every customer those without a smart meter can find out they are missing out 😂😜

    I am a part of the WhatsApp message and follow them on twitter so got notifications that way.
    Yes, but those of us with a ‘smart meter’ that isn’t smart are seriously p***ed off. I want to engage in all these money  saving events but can’t. 
    I wonder if Octopus will ever get ( or be interested in even trying to get ) our meter to communicate with the outside world

    Another neighbour a little further down the road also got a functional smart meter installed last week…

    That could be a good sign after all then, smart meters that can’t directly connect to the network themselves are being designed to “mesh” with other meters which can get a connection, to be able to communicate via those meters hubs instead. I’m no expert so can’t explain exactly how it all works but in theory the more smart meters that are installed the better connected they’ll all become in future.

    Out of curiosity is anyone following the thread taking part via a supplier other than Octopus? Would be interesting to see who’s offering the highest rewards per kWh.

    Mostly signing up for the chance to win things, as if I save 1kwh without the in day adjustment, I'll be amazed.

    Thanks, looks like Mr Lewis was a step ahead of me on that one!

    Interestingly, I noticed in one of the other threads that Eon didn’t take part in this first event, so no improvement on their side since last year apparently.
