so, I've worked out that this website https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/ gets updated over night (probably around midnight GMT)
It shows that some records get added on Saturdays too, so thats a good sign they work Saturday.
So now, I will only be checking every morning as opposed to every hour, although my solicitor will probably let me know beforehand1 -
YES!!!! Grant of application has been approved!
I just got out of the bath and there was the email from my solicitor.... such a relief, 23.5 weeks!
So now I will be able to sell my dads house in 2 weeks time and then pay off my mortgage, great! I would rather have my dad with me though.....2 -
Finally! We're at 16 weeks nearly, had request for further information, all received and uploaded, still we wait 🤷♀️ did you have any hold ups along the way? Pleased for you thoughjarv81178 said:YES!!!! Grant of application has been approved!

it’s reassuring to know things are actually moving at the Probate Office. Do let us know if you check the Probate Online tomorrow and if it’s updated. I have nightmares of my Solicitor going on annual leave for 6 weeks and the Grant coming through haha. 0 -
Yes good you got it. You would think indeed that people are doing lots of over time . Should be a givenjarv81178 said:so, I've worked out that this website https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/ gets updated over night (probably around midnight GMT)

The size of the Estate is a consideration in costs, though for the same size Estate you'd expect a lower charge if the Estate consisted of just a house and a couple of bank accounts than if there was a house and multiple accounts/investments all over the place including foreign holdings in countries with obstructive bureaucracies.GoogleMeNow said:Grizebeck said:How do co op legal services justify their prices
They state that they are lower than a solicitor's prices, as a solicitor will often charge a percentage of the estate. I guess it depends on how big the estate is?!

You would think, wouldn't you? But often it is the case that the solicitor won't really know how complex the estate is until they gather in all the information and start going through it all, which they won't know on an initial quote. So, the quote is enough to cover all bases. They win on a simple estate and lose on the complex estates.Nearlyold said:
