  • Contact at last.......they want IHT400 and IHT421 forms filling in now even though no IHT is payable...was told we didn't need to fill them in but now we do...lol.
If God didn't want us to eat animals, why did he make them out of meat.:beer:
  • After HMRC not sending the IHT421 form to Probate in June, causing a stopped application at 11 weeks, we received notification that probate had been granted at 13 weeks. Now waiting for the actual grant to arrive (up to 10 days).
I know someone who is waiting on a paper application probate applied for by a solicitor and they have been told minimum of 22 weeks.
I think without any hiccups 10-11 weeks is the norm at the moment. We we just unlucky that HMRC didn't do what they should have.

I used a Solicitor and paper application, and it took roughly 8 weeks, just pot luck it seems, probate put in 12 July, probate granted and received 13 September.

Wishing good luck to everybody stuck in this quagmire.
  • Paper application sent May 3rd. Still nothing - Solicitor chased two weeks ago, and they said the 16 weeks counted as the day they ‘signed’ for it, May 30th. Which makes no sense to me. So based on their calculations we’re at 17 weeks tomorrow. A little frustrating, but I guess there is really nothing else we can do, other than wait. It was a fairly simple estate 1 property, and bank accounts. Newcastle Probate registry claim to be working on ‘March’ cases.

the delays really are quite unacceptable
  • If it takes this long to get probate, how are bills for a house left in will to be sold, get paid, council tax, etc.?
bank ac,s will have been frozen , are executors supposed to pay for it all , out of their own pocket and claim it back when probate is granted, and that’s just the starting gun being fired.
house could be empty for up to 6-12 months, before marketing by all the posts I have read here.
