Oh look what I found: https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/ - very new service and very helpful but it doesn't make probate go any quicker I'll be checking this every day for the next 6 weeks or so probably?!

it is very new and has only been live probably less than 1 month.... It's still in Beta too!
  • My wife’s aunt died on the 28th August with no will and probate was granted to her son on the 11th September! Having just applied for probate for my mum’s estate I’ll bet it takes longer than that for them to acknowledge receipt of the will I sent off on Monday.
