Well we finally heard probate is granted, no certificate received as yet. It will be 16 weeks tomorrow and we had a blip along the way.
    Congratulations!

    Great news !
  • It's bittersweet really I guess, makes me think of my poor Dad who spent the last 3 years of his life in a care home with severe dementia and unknowingly paid a huge amount for it, that's another post though I suppose. Just glad we're getting some closure and his wishes can be fulfilled.

Similar to me, Elliemiss - 16 weeks and 1 day waiting for probate so that bank funds can be released and house sold (if/when it does) just so that I can pay enormous bills for outstanding care home fees for one of my parents who had severe dementia.  Like you, that'd be another post and another story :-(  Both parents died within 9 months of each other - I applied for probate for both at the same time.  Probate for my parent without dementia was granted two weeks earlier.  In a way, I'm glad that I only had to go through it once.

I was lucky dad got dementia and due to that had a drink problem. It got bad but in a short period of time. Sectioned into hospital and then died a few months later from a chest infection. So it was over quickly for him and he wasn't  living as some confused world for years

So sorry to hear your story SkyeD, there must be many like us, in a way I'm glad we sold Dad's house a couple of years ago to pay the care home fees, at least we don't have that to deal with now.
  • 10 weeks and 3 days here, sent 10th August 2023. received email yesterday confirming its granted so now just waiting for the paper version.
Good luck to all you still waiting, it feels an age in the depths of grief as well.
  • Morning, that's great news, congratulations !
  • Probate granted today.  25 weeks since I applied.  13 weeks since I answered their one query.
  • That is shocking  :#
