NST September 2023: Turtle Tightwaddery with a sprinkle of Alchemy

Hi turtles, I’ve had the lurgy the past three days, I took a couple of days off work, I didn’t do much apart from drift in and out of sleep, put on a washing or two, stayed indoors away from the baking sun, shuffled around the house feeling rotten and feeling rotten about feeling rotten, I had no interest in doing anything at all… today I’ve woken and it appears to have lifted! 🤞
Over these past few days though I’ve thought a lot about how awful being unwell is. I live everyday with the consequences of a brain injury from having had brain cancer, but in general I am healthy and I go about my life. But when I’m struck with the lurgy, and feel physically in pain and emotionally drained, it makes me so incredibly grateful for my usual state of health and in awe (not sure that’s the right word) of people who are forced to live with pain.
Nothing much else to report because I haven’t done nowt.Take care turtles xNST 🐢 & MF before 40 🤸10 -
Good Afternoon 🌞
Hugs to everyone having a stressful time. I wonder if Mercury is retrograde or there is some funny alignment going on because it's been a funny few days of stress!!! Hugs Thrifty (I had one of those GP moments too) and f0xholes - why is everything tied up with legal loopholes and jargon? Hoping it all gets sorted out soon. Get well soon Idee.
I definitely think the heat lowers our resilience and shortens our fuses. I literally can't wait for Autumn!!!
Thanks for the advice Kijakita. No pretzels. Are you insane haha!!?? Well I replaced them with Snack-a-jacks thinking I could just have a couple, and only 38 calories each. Of course I demolished 2/3 of the pack in one sitting (still only 232 calories vs 650 + for Pretzels haha). I tried oat cakes but thought I might just cut out the side of my Bran Flakes pack and it that instead haha! Beanielou - hula hoops are my weakness. Clearly they must lace them with some addictive narcotic!!!
Thanks Apple for the article. It definitely is a mind-set thing. I never feel deprived and I think one thing that really helps me with that is remembering that some people manage with literally next to nothing. Just making little changes like swapping down brands or cruising the yellow sticker isle are great steps to embracing that... and trying to keep hold of 'if I don't spend money on x - then I can put it towards y' can keep me moving in the right direction.
Today I am grateful for:
1) My fan again haha!!!
2) More novels from my teenage years! Dragonlance Saga - they're just amazing.
3) Having a fridge/freezer!
Yesterday was a spend day
Today = NSD number 4

@abundant1972. I have changed from hoola hoops to Aldi's own brand hoola hoops.
They are cheaper, more packets in the bag & more importantly taste just the same!!I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters. Haven't posted most of the week, just been really busy with work and not getting finished until very late. Have had some spends as got takeaway on Thursday and bought lunch yesterday as I was on the road all day and didn't have anything I could bring - poor planning on my part.
OH has gone on holiday with some friends today so I've invited my parents to stay for a couple of days. It's ridiculously hot and our flat is south facing so just gets worse as the afternoon goes on so my plan is to go somewhere with outdoor seating for dinner later and hope everything has cooled down by the time we get back!9 -
Had a lovely day with family. We hired an adapted bike(wheelchair on the front and powered by shanks mare) for YD. She really enjoyed herself, OH is shattered though. So hot, although there was a breeze to stop us overheating . Went to the allotment this evening and nearly melted in the greenhouses.
Grateful for
1) YD having the opportunity to explore the countryside
2) ice creams at the end of the ride
3) fresh water comes out our taps.

NSD 5. Yay!Was indoors in a horrifically warm building all day, on my feet for 13 hours, dealing with hot, stroppy, unreasonable people. Still, tomorrow is a day off, and then it all starts again next week.Returned home to a piled high sink
a leaking jar of beetroot in the fridge that had been knocked over, and a load of laundry to go outside. Economically a good day, but really disappointed in the kids and the mess they leave behind them. Was so tired I had 2 crumpets for my dinner and am going to bed. I have had quite enough of today!
Tomorrow I will clean the house and make lots and lots of lovely noise.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!
