To clarify, the calls to the court and solicitors wouldnt be about the defence, they would be to resolve any incoming CCJ if the defence does not get accepted for being over the submission date - how do i know if i was?

Okay, will contact the court and gladstones (the solicitors) with my updated address, can i do these both via email?

    Yes. Email both DPOs. Urgently!

You do not need to call the court to clarify anything.  An incoming CCJ now would be too late. If MCOL still shows no CCJ tonight then you won the race and your defence prevails.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

    Could i get this confirmed?
I got the automated response (below) at 22.45 yesterday from ClaimResponses.CNBC@justice.gov.uk after sending my defence (is this correct?)

Thank you for emailing the Claim Responses Team in the Civil National Business Centre. Please expect a response to your enquiry in 10 days

For Gladstones would this be enquiries@gladstonessolicitors.co.uk?
    And for the court
    ClaimResponses.CNBC@justice.gov.uk? or enquiries.northampton.countycourt@justice.gov.uk?

So if i click "start defence" on MCOL it says this below. So would this mean even if i did, because im submitting late my defence would not be valid?

Please note that a defended claim will be transferred to an appropriate county court to proceed.

Each step is completed by clicking 'Next' at the bottom of the page, which automatically confirms and saves the information you have entered. Any error messages displayed at the top of a page must be corrected before moving on to the next step.

Before you can file a defence to the claim against you, you must make sure the following apply in your case:

you are filing your defence within 14 days of service of the claim on you (a claim is considered served on the fifth day after it is issued)

    or

where separate detailed particulars of claim were served, within 14 days of service of those

    or

if you filed an acknowledgement of service, within 28 days of service of the claim (or separate particulars)

    Right
    in this instance
because the MCOL only allows a certain number of characters i would just concentrate on the main areas of your defence and not all the other stuff
    then it should be fine
Personally i often use the MCOL for what i do because it works better form my perspective but not the template defence on this forum

Even though I've submitted my defence like @Coupon-mad
has clarified - what will submitting the defence via MCOL do differently to the larger template one i sent last night via email?
