However, since actively avoiding UPF I have more energy and more motivation to get things done. Scary really as our diet is largely UPF free so the small amounts we do eat seem to be having a disproportionate effect on me. Thinking about UPF as a synthetic food substitute has put me off entirely. And also made me feel less guilty about eating (and better able to moderate my intake of) home made treats. Is this the magic bullet that will help me stay at a healthy weight? Wouldn't that be lovely 😁
I am so pleased to find some fellow UPF bores on the site. Although are we UPF bores if we don't find each other boring? 🤔😂

A Bank Holiday Break
Mr F has broken his nose 😲 He slipped whilst getting out of the bath last night. It's not looking too bad this morning - he may have got off lightly as he doesn't have much bone left in there due to rugby playing in his youth. He has a large gash on his nose and some swelling but no black eyes yet. I think it might even look a bit straighter now. That man is becoming a liability 🙄
So we are not having the day out we planned today. We did, however, go out on Saturday to a fair for small business crafters. It was a much bigger event than we were expecting with lots of traders there. The venue had put the event on free to exhibitors and visitors to support local businesses which I think was fabulous of them. I bought a beautiful hand-woven scarf for myself and a house warming card for a friend. We had a pork pie and a quiche for lunch whilst there. Costs will be met from personal spends/fun money.
We spent yesterday in the garden and started the end of the summer tidy. Uncovered a rats' nest with 15 babies in it
🐀 Mr F quickly dispatched them. We have a live and let live policy usually but 15 baby rats will soon become 15 adult rats and if they all have 15 babies... This is probably a third or fourth litter too 😲
And... we discovered the downstairs loo was leaking. I've been suspicious of it for some time but couldn't find any evidence. I finally discovered a tiny, tiny leak whilst I was clearning in there yesterday. Mr F determined a new part was required which he went off to acquire and fitted. However, there turned out to be a problem with the new part which took ages to resolve so, what should have been a small job, took up most of the morning 🙄 Isn't that always the way. Mr F did manage to fix it in the end though. This was before he broke his nose of course - I didn't set him to work injured 😆 No, he has been nursed and pampered until his tolerance for nursing and pampering is exhausted (signalled by "I'm fine. Stop fussing woman."). And today he is out with his pruning saw doing stuff in the garden.
I made Courgette, Potato & Feta Slice which used up quite a lot of the courgettes I had languishing in the fridge. And Prawn Caldine to use up some of the green bean mountain that's also been growing in there.
I'm going to get our household accounts up to date now and meal plan for the week but not much more.
It is a Bank Holiday after all and there's also Mr F's pride to soothe.

It does worry me though that we are such an echo chamber - and then you go out into the real world and people have huge debts and don't see a problem with it, and eat rubbish and don't see a problem with it, and don't care about the planet and don't see a problem with it.... We're such a nice, switched-on bunch here!
