Fortune_Smiles said:It's funny you should say that @badmemory, that's exactly how I felt a lot of the time - not ill exactly but not totally well. However, since actively avoiding UPF I have more energy and more motivation to get things done. Scary really as our diet is largely UPF free so the small amounts we do eat seem to be having a disproportionate effect on me. Thinking about UPF as a synthetic food substitute has put me off entirely. And also made me feel less guilty about eating (and better able to moderate my intake of) home made treats. Is this the magic bullet that will help me stay at a healthy weight? Wouldn't that be lovely 😁
I am so pleased to find some fellow UPF bores on the site. Although are we UPF bores if we don't find each other boring? 🤔😂Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Thanks guys. We might even get some income in January 🤞 I'm making these trousers @Cheery_Daff. I've made them before and I like the 'lantern' style of them. They are also super comfy.

scandimore said:Very happy with my Panasonic sd-2511 breadmaker, use it most days. It has a separate compartment which you can put seeds or nuts into and it fires into the dough at the proper time. The only two slightly annoying things about homemade bread in a maker is (as well as it getting gobbled so quickly) it's a bit harder to slice straight and the dough hook / mixer thing makes a hole in the underside of the loaf. I guess I could wait until the dough was mixed but not baked and fish it out but I'm usually doing something else. Overall very good and only takes a minute to stick the ingredients in. Much better than the upf stuff from supermarkets. That's my tuppence in
Thank you @scandimore - that's really helpful. I was thinking of getting a Pana$0nic.

Isn't that a coincidence, I too have a Panasonc SD2511. It has a realy good recipe book with it too. I have a kitchencraft thing which guides the slices (& acts like a bread bin) but I'm on my second one now as DS usually slices the bread & has a tendancy to slice through the plastic. I've got used to the hole in the bottom from the mixer blade.

We are TV free on a Friday. We got into the habit of automatically put it on and that was it. So we now have 1 night where the world is our oyster. I suppose every night could be...... but I do like to flob. I have also set 1 night aside that if I do have it on I do sewing or something similar.

If you do buy a bread machine, I would echo the others and recommend getting a Panasonic. I've had a few and the Panasonic is the best by a long way. It does have a longer cycle (4 hours for white, 5 hours for wholemeal) than some others but the end result is worth the extra time and money.6

@Fortune_Smiles - I had a compact M0rphyRichards which was a perfect size for two people and I used at least twice a week for 10 years! It is now a discontinued model and sadly can't find something comparable that can be paused after kneading bread to remove the blade, set on a timer when going out to work and also has a cake function to make quickbreads such as banana loaf! - Would definitely recommend a compact model if you are only baking for two as it prevents over comsumption of carbs! - LOL - warm bread and cake is far too tempting!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage! (23 AUG 2021)New projection - 15 YEARS 2 MONTHS LEFT OF 20 YEARS (reduced by 13 mths)Psst...I may have started a diary!6

Thanks for the advice @badmemory, @CCW007 and @rtandon27. It's pay day this week so I'll see what's left after the bills are paid and, hopefully, have enough left over to buy a Pana$onic 😁
