88% paid for on the mortgage - well done !Enjoy your tripDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... Still Busy 🙄
Mr F's work has slowed down a bit but mine has speeded up 😲 I do any follow up that's required plus the invoicing so I've been dealing with the fallout from Mr F's recent busyness. It's all done now though so I can enjoy the weekend.
We have joined the gym 🥳 The purpose of the business is to provide savings and fun money and, after all this busyness we've earned enough to take a dividend to pay for membership. We're planning a trip to the pool tomorrow 🏊♀️
We are, finally, harvesting produce from the veg patch - radish, lettuce, rhubarb, artichokes and raspberries. My seeds did very poorly this year so i bought some cucumber and french bean plants. However, they were damaged by the courier who had obviously thrown the box around, taken ages to deliver and left the parcels outside in direct sunshine despite my asking for them to be left on the porch 😠 I may have just managed to save 2 of the 3 cucumber plants but I'm not sure any of the 15 bean plants will survive. The plants were delivered in two lots. I complained on receiving the cucumbers and got a refund so now I need to raise another complaint about the beans 🙄
I had a tooth rebuilt this week 😣. We have an annual budget for dentist visits but I think I might need to add a bit to this as we get older. More fillings are likely to fail and need replacing. And teeth (or parts of them) may start falling out as mine did 😲 Oh the joys of getting on a bit 😂
My plan for today is to make the most of the good weather and do some weeding in the veg patch and then to make a start on the painting I've promised to do for the WI County Show entry. I also need to use up last year's fruit from the freezer to make room for this year's harvest - I'm thinking raspberry ripple ice cream and raspberry cordial. We must have had a bumper harvest of raspberries last year as that will use up a fraction of what we froze 😂 I'm not complaining it's a lovely challenge to have.
I'd much rather be starting a new sewing project though. I have lots of fabric remnants waiting for their lives to begin and... I won a competition 🥳 I can order 5 metres of fabric of my choice - woohoo! I'm already thinking of a kimono style cover up and some palazzo pants.
Happy weekend all - I hope it's a warm and sunny one.

And relax...
Thank you for all the good wishes guys. It was a lovely sunny and dry day in the Shire yesterday so we spent the whole morning in the veg patch which is now weed free and looking fabulous. There are even some signs that the beans are recovering 😁
We had Lentil & Sweet Potato Curry for lunch with naan bread and a tuna and cheese salad for supper including lettuce and radish from the garden. Mr F popped up the corner shop for beer and ice cream as a reward for all our hard work.
In the afternoon, Mr F did some clearing up from his hedgelaying earlier in the year and I started and almost finished the painting I'd promised for the WI County Show entry. I just need to do a little tidying up of the paintwork and it will be done. It's turned out very well and I'm pleased to have got it off my list so quickly.
It's our anniversary today so we went for a swim and spa this morning on our new gym membership and had a sandwich and cake lunch after in the cafe there. We're having dinner in a little out of the way country hotel this evening. It's somewhere we've been before and the food is amazing. Might wear my new top 👚
And that's it for today. It's nice to have a down day and a little R&R.
Hope you're enjoy a relaxing Sunday too.
