Self employment is so different from working for someone else. I did it for a few years when DS was in primary & exDH used to work away several days a week. I used to work around his school, home & bedtime. Several nights I used to find I was still working at 1 in the morning & thinking Oh dear I ought go to bed. Working for someone else & I would be where is my coffee.

I agree, Mr F does sound like he needs lessons in semi retirement! 😂
Yes, you're right Cheery - a little way to go yet to the mid-point. Mr F and I have had a good chat this afternoon about reducing the work and doing more fun stuff so I think he's finally starting to get the hang of it 😆

It is very different BM. We are happy to work hours and times we would never agree to if we were employed. Although this is balanced out by taking time off on a school day afternoon... sometimes 😆 I'm hoping for more school day afternoons off going forward though 😉

Sloooooowing down 🦥
Mr F is home from his latest trip and we should be able to slow down a bit now for the next couple of months. I'm hoping this will coincide with the arrival of summer 😂
Savings have taken a bit of a hit. I've paid for the groundworks that were needed for the new boiler and the emptying of the septic tank. But also made the 10% overpayment we're allowed on the mortgage this year. This doesn't make the best financial sense (we are still on a very low fixed rate) but Mr F feels far more relaxed when he can see the outstanding sum coming down and I'm fed up of him nagging me 😂 So the deed has been done and we have now paid off 88% 🥳 We are also still getting some help in the garden but may only need that for another few weeks.
With better weather on the way (🤞) and less in the diary, we're planning to be more active. We're thinking lots of walks but there is a local hotel with a great pool and gym near by so we're going to pop in next week and check out the facilities there. Mr F has his own gym equipment in the barn but swimming is something we could do together and I'd like to attend some classes.
I finished the top I've been making. Which is a relief because I want to wear it tomorrow 😆 Now I need to decide my next project. I've bought a (wo)mannequin. It will be a great help with fitting and I know this is a hobby I'll be continuing with so it feels like a good investment.
I'm taking my new top to a baby shower for the imminent Baby Fortune tomorrow. I'll be away from home for the night on my own for the first time in years. What an adventure!
Have a great weekend all.
