Defo. And with the money saved on not buying an awning, you can treat yourselves to a set of parasol fairy lights.
2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!4 -
parasol fairy lights?? Off to google another want not need
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!2 -
@Watty1 - I only know about these because I once bought a heavily reduced set in error, thinking it was the usual single string. Turned out to be a set for a parasol with several 'arms' of lights coming off a central point to fit the underside of a parasol. I kept them as only a very few quid & I only bought them as fairy lights to go in a big glass vase.

I am so with you on the awning quote I have had two so far the first one great and ok price but the second just did not suggest anything and only wanted to sell one option. He even offered an inferior fabric choice when I asked about the PVC option that would take months to get! I also had to say I had seen the model I was interested in on their manufacturers website and I had to quote him the number. I have a last one coming tomorrow so fingers crossed. My sister had a huge brolly which she swears by and it is quite cool I must say.

Cripes, definitely don't go with second one @TallGirl, that sounds like a world of unnecessary pain! Do report back if anything proves satisfactory. Tbh we've got a bit sick of spending money and dealing with tradespeople so it was good to enquire but unless any of them come up with a brilliant idea for an excellent price, we're parasoling it

I have been in a knackered grump for most of the day, partly hormonal and partly because why isn't this effing build finished and signed off yet, it's like death by a thousand cuts, with a letter missing from cuts
The big job for the day was sorting out four different change of addresses for five different forms. Bejesus, it was like working out a particularly inbred bureaucratic family tree
Usuals
Small spec work
Entered some competitions
Received a free laundry detergent to review
Steps getting toiletries at best price
Little bit of cleaninghttps://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6466032/an-in-between-phase/p1
