Ah I'm sure you could @lucielle, it's just a matter of getting used to them and to what's normal for that particular crossword setter. A lot of them are just anagrams or puns, and the free paper me and mum get has clearly recently had a change of setter as there are a fair few 'running into each other words' clues lately, which only require spelling and remembering to look if that works 😁

Agree, @PennysIntoPounds, it is just getting used to them & how they work. It used to annoy me that my Dad (dropped out of his A-levels) could tackle any broadsheet cryptic successfully, whereas I (Masters degree) couldn't even begin to penetrate the clues! Started doing the Guardian's Saturday 'Quick Cryptic' a couple of years ago which is for beginners to learn how they work & we can now solve the main crossword. We're finding it an enjoyable brain workout. Got to keep those little grey cells active!

Stupendous September Aims

Hopefully finishing off all this build stuff! Tbf there's a lot that's out of our control but regular chasing and smashing the things on our list definitely a priority

Keep up with steps, difficult when weather is yucky and I am knackered but no-one ever felt worse for going for a little walk

Hopefully home-cooking more, now we're a bit more used to the gaff and it's wholesome season 🍂

Would be nice to get some more dates in for people coming round before it gets too freezing and miserable
