Disappointing about Argos being rubbish. When we had the kitchen rebuilt at the flat we had an issue with the fridge freezer we had bought turning out not to be suitable and I can confirm that AO were extremely helpful and obliging about letting us change that outside the normal window - so I'd not hesitate to recommend them.
As for your builder - from everything you have said they had made errors/ignored instructions on I would strongly suggest that a small claims court (can't recall the current name) after everything is sorted is the way forwards to reclaim some of what their c**k ups have cost you.
Bristol Beer Factory turn out some nice beers - as do New Bristol Brewery in the same neck of the woods. If you ever see their cinder toffee milk stout it's lush!

No advice re oven, other than to say I manage well with just an air fryer. I would say yay to the move in but at this point I'm genuinely afraid of what will happen next lol.

Boo to the oven. I only use an air fryer.

Haha know the feeling @WelshmansDaughter, there was a big fire in East London the other week and a mate messaged me saying 'Have you seen this, is it anywhere near yours' and honestly my instinctive reaction was if build had been burnt to the ground I wouldn't actually be in the slightest bit surprised
(No fatalities or injuries btw, thank goodness. One house irretrievably burnt down but the household are all okay and being well looked after and supported, I have been checking updates in case they needed a semi-functioning unfinished gaff to kip at)

Oh was this the one in Shernhall Street? That's caused major issues with the railway hasn't it - I initially assumed that the fire had started on the embankment and spread through the gardens to the house, but it seems to have occurred the other way round. Scary stuff though.

Honestly pip for the money you'd get in rent for Calamity Towers you'd get a palace up here and enough to travel back to the Big Smoke on the Cally sleeper every week
