Argos refusing to let us exchange or return oven even though we'd be buying a more expensive item from them. Ah well, will be buying it elsewhere then. When we've somehow flogged the one we have to get money to buy the new one.

Oh dear, PiP, It just seems to carry on being as complicated as possible for you. Mind you, I spoke too soon when I said our friends' build on the other side of the world seemed to be going more smoothly than the one you are endeavouring to do in the same city. It seems that quite a few essential things required from a legal/environmental perspective weren't included in the price & the cost of some of them has been astronomical. Based on yours & their experiences, I have added 'Build myself a house' to the virtual list of things I will never do. I shall be delighted to hear that you have finally moved in & the ordeal is finally over. I think we will all be raising a glass to you on moving-in day!

Best of luck with the final push & getting some of these tedious & annoying snags crossed off the list.

There will still be a ton of stuff to do and sort and be anxious about after move-in date unfortunately, though I am wearing my 'get build done' perfume so surely it'll all be fine really soon

Perhaps get the wrong oven listed on bay of e asap, with a 20% off the price? It should go quite quickly. Or are there any places that seem reconditioned ovens near you that might consider doing a commercially-sensible-for-both-of-you trade?

Thanks @KajiKita, ebay is on my 'absolutely not, no way' list as I've had nothing but trouble any time I've tried to use them, and you know they must be bad when I won't bother trying to flog something on there 😂

We've asked builder if he happens to be working on anything that is requiring an oven, and if not I'll put it on FBM etc.

Shame Argos couldn't part exchange it as a goodwill gesture, but their loss.

I mean, mostly our loss, but if companies want to lose sales and customers cos computer says no, up to them

Argos used to be really good for refunds/exchanges so surprised to hear this, although they’ve been taken over since I last bought something from them. I hope you manage to sell it on.
