Your surveyor problem in fact all your house problems is part of what Mr LH calls the British disease. That is the ability to do a good complete job in a reasonable amount of time.

Speechless at surveyor .  and the situation
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

Thanks gang, it is maddening but it will be what and when it will be. We persevere!
Did not need the added life stress of mouse in the bedroom at midnight though!

So today's main extra aim is: work out what the heck we're supposed to do about mouse 😂

Humane trap - small & inexpensive. Bait with something tasty. We use peanut butter but my neighbour had good results with a little chunk of mars bar when we had our infestation. Leave where you have seen mousey & a few crumbs leading in the general direction of trap can help. Check frequently so it isn't confined in there too long. Then simply pick up the closed unit & take outside before opening to release mouse. I used to drive mine (caught 7 in a week) down to the expensive end of the village for an accomodation upgrade.
If you can do this, it will also help flag up if you have a bigger problem....as in if you know you defo relocated one, any further sightings would appear to indicate he was only the advance party. Am not mouse expert.....just had long experience of the little bs!

Ugh ... Nothing worse than a mouse scampering about on your pillow in the wee small hours ... DAMHIK! ;)

Second foxgloves' suggestion of a humane trap and relocating at least a mile away as they like to return 'home'.

Not another curve ball due to someone else's incompetence, how 🤬 frustrating. The surveyor has failed to do the job you paid/are paying him for, I hope you can sue.

Thanks @foxgloves and @KajiKita. Trying to not have to spend money on this issue but may have to be done

Sueing everyone is on the list @Sun_Addict but really do not have the energy to create more dramas right now! Also we feel really powerless so alienating anyone who might turn out to be essential for progress does not feel like the right thing to do atm- would be typical if we made an enemy of surveyor and council said they can only deal with him

Surveyor is clearly a bit rubbish so you will have to keep a tighter rein but understand the not wanting to alienate and feeling powerless. You should have a treat of some kind today.
