Aww, that last bit made me smile, but sadly. I know just what you mean. I lost one of my best friends 7 years ago & still find myself wishing I could ask her this, that & the other.

On the cryptic crossword front, we are getting braver! We fairly skip through the Saturday Guardian Quick Cryptic now & actually managed 6 clues in the main one last week!
    Your wombling is amazing.

  • Just think of the high quality cryptic crosswords he is getting now. Sitting in the corner of a pub where he never has to pay for the drinks ❤️
  • Ach, sending sorry affectionate smiles your way too @foxgloves, it's hard isn't it, losing loved ones. You miss them for the rest of your life and the only protection is to never love again which is no way to live a life, and doesn't get rid of the pain of missing those who've already gone.
I'm so pleased you got brave and are getting on well with the cryptic crosswords, it's good intellectual exercise even if you can't get the answers as you're still pondering in diverse ways.

  • A friend of mine once said "If you don't climb, you can't fall, but if you never climb you also never get to experience the views" - wise words, I think. Definitely not worth sacrificing the joys of good friendships and relationships in order to avoid the pain of risking losing people.

    Couple of surveys

30 minute walk, found two McMo tokens

Oooh, a Christmas car boot sounds fun. I don't know if I could cope with car booting these days. I used to do one every so often, but oh my life, I seemed to attract some rum people!

  • You attract odd people wherever you go @foxgloves!
Mr PIP and I will hopefully split the cost of a stall with a friend, and hopefully if we do it early Dec people will be out looking for presents and stocking fillers

What with the council and the hospital trust it makes you wonder whether anyone actually monitors their inboxes! They should at least acknowledge receipt even if they don’t have an outcome yet!

Dealt with housing association man coming round to fix something for family friends

    Shower and hairwash
30 minute walk, found 12 McMo tokens

    Entered some competitions
Changed bedding with Mr PIP'S help
    Plant watering
    Second load of washing up
    Two loads of laundry

    Vinted relistings
Looked at things that could be listed, decided that was enough effort

20 minute walk with Mr PIP for Friday beer. Might get something random from Sainsers for dinner. In a bit of an odd mood as got a possible date for friend's celebration of life, not for a few weeks.

Anyway, hope everyone has a good Friday

For me, I think Celebrations of life need to be a while after the initial raw grieving, sorrow and loss.  I need time to feel ok about smiling at happy memories and coming away from the service feeling still sad but happy to have been part of that person's life.  Not expressed very well but hope you get my gist.

re the hospital trust (I'm feeling so cross with them that I've not even dignified them with capital letters 😡)
according to the rules of The Better Payments Practice Code (fully capital lettered 😇) payment of outstanding debts by NHS Trusts is due within 30 days.  If you can be bothered you could ask Director of Finance why he doesn't adhere to that code and copy email to the Chair of the Governance Committee.  I know it's time and effort you shouldn't need to expend but they are insensitive and shoddy.
