I meant to reply to your question a few days ago @PIP, about whether our DFW diary titles still reflect our situation. Yes, I think mine definitely does & I think the whole concept of 'Resourcefulness' will be with me now until I shuffle off this mortal coil - hope so, anyway. Making the most of free resources, 'shopping from home', repurposing things I don't want into useful stuff, thinking of different ways of doing things in order to postpone or hopefully delete the need to spend money. We no longer have any debt or mortgage, but as we didn't discover the merits of budgeting & living within our means until our 40s, we are relative newcomers to saving, so resourcefulness is still very much my friend. Only yesterday, I was repotting free plants, ran out of plant labels & was able to go & fetch a handful of the 116 I cut from no-longer-required plastic dividers from an old notebook! I also dismissed the email I received recently containing a 3 for 2 offer on sweet-pea seeds when I passed our (now deceased) sweet-peas & spotted some plumply promising seed pods. Another free resource. They are everywhere if only we get into the mindset of 'sourcing' not always meaning the spending of actual money.
So yes, I still feel very committed to my diary title. And thanks for asking the question, as it's an interesting one.

  • Love hearing everyone's thoughts on their diary titles, thanks all.

Today it has been abominable weather so we mostly hunkered down, Mr PIP had some reading time and I caught up with admin, did a small amount of spec work, and entered some competitions- it's Christmas hamper time already! Most exciting.

We obviously had to go and get ice-creams to eat in the rain and wind as we are having a British seaside summer holiday 😁 Also won a £2 off at Spar voucher and there's actually a Spar here so we got some coffee to take back with us as that's something we'll need to buy anyway. Will treat us to a pound each off our I.O.MEs! Not mse but also got some seaside fudge. We are supporting the local economy nom nom.
Last night here tonight so having a chippie tea

I’ve not seen fresh doughnuts (other than the Lidl one !) are they not compulsory at the seaside 🤣🤣🤣

  • Didn't spot any @dawnybabes, the arcade was closed too! Was hoping to win some sweet 2p's for the I.O.ME fund 😂

We finished watching We Are Lady Parts on C4 catch up, I thoroughly recommend.

£4.14 left from my holiday pot so have paid that back to my I.O.ME

Train back booked to avoid peak fares, had a few beers in local on return as technically Mr PIP is still on holibobs, dinner is pasta bake from the freezer, thank you past me.

Have a lovely bank holiday weekend, those of you with actual jobs, and the rest of us too x

  • hope you had a good holibobs
  • It is indeed @Sun_Addict, we're going to try to be as frugal as possible for the next few days so Mr PIP can pay for car's mot next week before it comes out of next pay cheque or 'saving money from 'flat share' savings' pot. Difficult on a bank holiday weekend but we shall try! Got a friend coming round for dinner this evening so even buying food and drinks for three of us will be cheaper than getting rounds in the pub (sadly for pubs)

Nice to see you @Sarahwithlove thanks for your sympathies and good wishes. Still feeling bereft of cat, still permanent fuming with the council!

Thanks @WelshmansDaughter, we're very appreciative of friends lending their homes while they're away
  • Hip went completely mad yesterday and the rest of the joints have followed, so I am a one woman ministry of silly walks and ouchiness.
Managed to get a load of olio bread before it went full on pain so took a couple of quid off my I.O.ME

Had a very nice evening catching up with friend and mum is coming over for a glass of wine later. Am going to attempt a slow walk to lidl to get bakery freebie and essentials though Mr PIP will do the carrying (of shopping, not me)

    Have a lovely Sunday everyone

Sorry to hear about your poor joints 🙁 Glad you had a lovely catch up with your friend and a nice evening with your mum to look forward to. Hope you’re feeling better soon.
